A midst all this that is going on in the world. I’m heading out to sea again..
The company has bought a new (second hand) ship that’s in Rotterdam. So we’ll be boarding with a bunch of Dutch guys to get her up to company standards and paint her a new colour.
Then we’ll be sailing cargo again.
My mind is also with all my colleages, who are stuck on their ships, Crew leave and change is stopped all over the world, and even if you could get off, you cannot fly home, or your collage cannot come in.
According to the Dutch ship owner assosiastion (knvr) there could be crews stuck on their ship for a year or over.
Everytime they make port they are in touch with potential carriers. Everytime they leave port they might find out they got a sick crew member weeks out at sea.
With the certainty that the airconditioning has done the perfect job of pumping any airborn virus around the whole ship.
But also every time they make port they might bring vital supplies for that place or load up something vital for another port.
So there is just one thing to do for all those at sea.
