Thinking about birth crystals in yyh and thinking about koorime being able to imbue them with songs Anyway Hiei listening to a last lullaby through Hina's crystal provided to him and learning the song so he can sing along with his mother even though she's gone

when he loses the crystal he wishes he hadn't sung along as often as he did bc by always singing along he neglected to commit her voice to memory

I don't think I'm violently opposed to anime Hina version but I think I dislike on principle that it feels like the anime wanted me to feel bad for her as a mother of Hiei, not bad for her as a mother herself or even as Yukina's mother or anything prior to that. But that's the unproductive hater in me speaking, like okay what else do you have for me bud?

Normally I prefer the "imiko are born evil and powerful and genocidal" to be a myth but thinking abt crazy concepts and actions made by characters that have detrimental effects in the long run, anyway, concept that the koorime originally did not have this aspect about themselves, but cursed(?) themselves/each other to produce death machines upon death if kidnapped and forcibly pregnated

- situation was so bad that whoever made this curse did not consider the autonomy of koorime who willingly have non-koorime only children, either because they didn't believe this could be possible or bc they didn't care abt them -- apathy perhaps, or maybe koorime who had children w non-hyougans were generally considered on the same level as traitors/terrorists bc if they went so far as having children w someone, they may have assisted in other matters too

Which is all fine (well.) until a non-traitorous koorime who had some unrestrained summertime fun at around the same time her pregnancy-period time came along, is carrying a pregnancy to term inside Hyouga and whose offspring thus effectively becomes the alien from alien 1979.

One way of dealing w this: not telling anyone why this is and blame it on the koorime who choose to carry such a cursed child to term, alternatively blame her for having sex/getting raped in the first place. Citizens would not be thrilled to hear this came about bc of bioengineering! Another method is being upfront abt it bc it's too complicated to undo now that it's been committed to them. Or, maybe it is undoable, but it's a method of controlling the population.
