As the nation watches in wonder as our UK leaders debate the nations impact of a stay or leave vote, Kop & Hibbert were thrilled to see the Kiss of Death (Not #InFor This?) art piece that recently appeared in Bristol’s cultural centre, Stokes Croft. Not only does the Paintsmiths of Bristol piece capture Bristol’s freedom of expression, it explicitly questions the ethics of a stay in Europe vote.
For those who don’t know what we’re talking about, two weeks ago, a 15-foot mural of mad, dangerous US Presidential candidate Donald Trump and Brexit Tory buffoon Boris Johnson, pictured in an intimate embrace, appeared amongst the other street art on Stokes Croft, in Bristol.
Commissioned by WE ARE EUROPE (a pro-EU organisation, set up to mobilise younger voters in the UK) the mural was painted by local artists Paintsmiths Of Bristol.
The image went viral overnight, catching the attention of news channels and media outlets worldwide (CNN, The Russian Times, The China Times, BBC News Night, The Guardian, The Independent, The Washington Post, New York Times, Huffington Post and Sky News all ran the story).
It seemed only appropriate and fitting, therefore, to capture this provocative piece of propaganda for posterity, in the form of a deliciously garish screen print.
The Andy Warhol-inspired edition is available as a six colour screen print on chunky archival paper (in four different colour ways) and was hand-pulled in Bristol by Mark My Words Screen Printing.
A celebration of common sense over nonsense...or a memorial to the death of democracy as we know it? These stunning collectable prints are available to pre-order now on the Kop & Hibbert website with a percentage of all sales going to We Are Europe.
Oh, and don’t forget to vote.
