So, I've always wondered: just how dense is the earth that earthbenders bend? (say that three times fast)

Is it close to, say, packed dirt, or more like actual stone? I assume it varies depending on location and the earthbenders ability and control, but it always looks like people are getting hit with honest-to-goodness boulders. Like, this looks like a couple of busted ribs, easy.

I suppose I can see how pro-bending could be a good way for Korra to learn; she's already a competitive person, so it's bound to motivate her to improve herself, but moreso, it's being part of a team that I think will be most beneficial.

All these years, she's been learning on her own - and learning for the sake of learning, at that. Mako and Bolin depending on her raise the stakes quite a bit - maybe not quite so much as Sozin's Comet, but still.
