A little miniature bookbinding practice to test some new materials and tools. I haven't done any binding work in about a year, and I decided what better to bind than a sweet little story about a book! @korrmin's story lives in my favorites, and now it can live on my shelf. Thank you for your wonderful writing
hello! ive starting writing a geraskier / evil!jaskier fic that was so heavily inspired by ur artwork of evil/supernatural jaskier that i felt like i should ask permission before even thinking of doing anything with it or posting it anywhere - i would, of course, credit ur beautiful art for inspiration
oh my god, this is so awesome!
i'm really glad you've decided to ask first, but it's completely fine with me, more than fine, it's really cool! 💛
give me the link when you'll post it please, i want to share with my followers))
hey guys is korrmin okay? looks like there's been a hacking, but also no response-- most spam hacks like that, the og user can usually still change the password... :(
hey i know u wanted to be notified when i post my fic and chap 1 has been posted!! im kinneyb on ao3 (cant send links through asks so just dm me if u want a direct link)
thank you for notifying me! 💛
i found you and the fic, can't wait to read it, and to my followers who thought that monster!jaskier concept was cool here's the link to the fic:
So apparently it’s korrmin ‘s birthday and this is my attempt to make her feel better?
I don’t know. Happy birthday! Have some rintori???
The faint sound of keys dangling and the soft click of the door finally opening could barely be heard and he sighed in relief.
It wasn't exactly late, but still not early enough to just come banging trough the door as he would have liked to do.
There was so much he wanted to do, if he was being honest, but he couldn't ruin the surprise, not now. Not after almost two months of planning and scheming and asking favors from the other side of the planet in shushed conversations.
Rin had planned this for so long now, he wasn't just going to throw all his effort (and pretty much all of his friend's too) because he was an overly attached adult who craved his lover's warmth like a man stranded in the desert would look at water.
So, he carefully removed his coat, settled his suitcase right next to the door and took off his shoes. His little present was still in his arms, and thankfully it wasn't making this even harder, so Rin took his chance.
It all started a few months back, five to be exact, after Rin's lifelong efforts had finally paid off. Someone had seen him swim. They were interested. They wanted him. To train with them. For the olympics.
It all happened in a blur. Rin's coach had called him, giving him the news and the redhead could do nothing more than stare to the wall in complete shock as he legs gave out. He was still holding the phone to his ear, but the voice coming from it was nothing but whir noise by now.
Ai had kneeled next to him as soon as he saw him going down. It wasn't until he saw the tears running down his face that he actually started panicking.
In Ai's defense, anyone would have expected the worse after watching Rin's reaction, but fortunately it wasn't.
When he saw Rin wasn't reacting, he just took the phone right out of his hands and talked to whoever it was on the other side of the line.
He asked a few questions and when Rin's coach finally gave him the news, he hung up, throwing himself over Rin, both of them tumbling to the floor in a big crash.
It was enough of a surprise to bring Rin back from his daze and he instantly pulled the boy in his arms even impossibly closer.
They were a lump of happy tears and wobbly smiles, clinging tightly to each other as if their lives depended on it.
They stayed there for a while, watching the living room ceiling turn rose and gold to a plethora of violets and blues, until it finally went black.
The next couple of days were a rush of packing, calling and last minute reunions. People congratulating Rin for his big accomplishment and inviting him to a few drinks before he had to leave.
Cause here's the thing. Yes, he was going to be part of Japan's official team but…. the training was all over the world. They were going to be taken from place to place, under the surveillance of different coaches, under different regimes and conditions. It was meant to make them stronger, to adapt to all sorts of rivals and situations.
That meant that Rin would have to put his education on hold for a while, he would have to leave his little apartment in Tokyo. The one he shared with the love of his life. Who would be staying. In tokyo. While he was away.
It took them a while to finally catch up to that fact. To realize that yes, Rin was living up to his dreams, but that meant the had to leave the other part of his dreams aside for a while.
It wasn't until they were both on the floor in their bedroom, folding Rin's clothes to pack them that they finally talked about it.
Ai was to stay here, take care of their home and their multiple plants (who they had named) and continue with his studies. Rin would take a six months trip around the world and they would Skype and call each other as much as their could. For a brief second the word "break" was thrown into the conversation, but they loved each other too much for that.
A few months apart wouldn't kill them, no matter what Rin said. They would make it through without a problem.
In this time and age, they could see each other daily, as if the other wasn't literally across the world.
And so they did.
Rin left after a big "go away" party with all of their friends and family. They ate and drank and shed a few tears but it was all in good nature.
The real tears came when Ai and Sousuke went drop Rin off at the airport.
Sousuke tried his best not to snicker at his best friend, clinging tightly and almost crawling over his smaller boyfriend, snot all over his face.
Ai just tried his best to stay calm, hugging Rin as much as he could, helping as much as possible when the redhead couldn't even speak. But when the time came to go their separate ways, they all cried. Nothing too dramatic, but still heartbreaking.
Sousuke pretended like there was something in his eyes, Ai just sniffled loudly, containing his tears as much as he could. Rin, well, Rin was a mess. But with one final and rather heavy kiss to his boyfriend, he retreated and got on the plane.
Since then, both boys were never seen without their phones on their hands.
They texted constantly, sending each other pictures of their activities during the day and every time they had a change, the Skype ringtone could be heard.
Ai slept with his iPad next to him, since most of the time he fell asleep somewhere in the midst of their conversation. Rin never complained. He would smile softly and watch his boyfriend's chest rise and fall easily and his bangs covered part of his face.
It wasn't until about two months after Rin's departure that he got a call. Sousuke.
Now, it's not like Rin didn't like talking to him or anything like that. It was just, well, strange. He usually preferred texting and that he did a lot. So when his name came up on the redhead's phone, it didn't settle right on his chest.
"Hello?"
"Rin?"
"Yeah. How are you man?"
"Uh, good. You know, the same.."
"Okay.."
"Listen, there's something we need to talk about.."
"God, I knew you weren't just calling for the hell of it"
"Pff, of course not. I hate phone calls, you know that."
"I do! That's what I was saying"
"Fine whatever, just listen"
"Yeah, what's up?"
"It's about Ai.."
" . . ."
"Rin?"
"WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED?!"
"Calm down you big baby, he's fine."
"WHY THE FUCK WOULD YOU SAY IT LIKE THAT THEN!?"
"Like what? This is about him you know?"
"UGH FINE. WHATEVER. What happened?"
"Well, I ran into Nagisa yesterday and we talked for a bit and somehow it seems like he hasn't seen Ai in a while."
"Okay?"
"You do know that's strange right? They study at the same university and they usually eat lunch together every other day.."
"Yeah…"
"And I haven't seen him in a while either. Nor has Momo. Or Haruka, or Makoto or Rei or Gou.."
"what?"
"No one has seen him lately. So I called him. We chatted a bit, but you know how I hate it, so I asked him if it was okay to just drop by.."
"Right.."
" He seemed reluctant to it, but I managed to sneak early from my class and went to see him.."
"You're scaring me again Sou.."
"He looks miserable Rin.."
Rin started to look back at their last few conversations. They had continue to text, sending random pictures all along, but the Skype calls had been slowly getting further and further apart. At this point, he hadn't seen Ai's face in about .. two weeks?!
"Fuck"
"What did you do this time?"
"I didn't do anything! I just… It's been getting busier over here, I'm constantly tired.. I hadn't even noticed we haven't skyped in like two weeks.. I haven't even seen his face in the pictured he's sent for a good while now.."
"God dammit Rin.." The redhead could hear a sigh escape his friend's mouth.
"You need to do something about this. I don't know what, call him later, ask for a video chat or whatever but just do it. I don't want to be the one picking up the pieces later."
"Yeah, no, don't worry. I'll think of something."
"Good. Now go"
"Wait! Sousuke!"
"What?"
"Thank you"
"Sap" And then he was gone. But could hear the smile on his friend's face before hanging up.
That brings us to this moment. Right now.
Two months after Sousuke's first call. Because there were many after that one. Oh.. so many.
Two months of asking all of his friends to take Ai for lunch or simply pay him a visit, of making sure that he was doing okay. Of constantly calling again, even for only three minutes. It didn't matter. Rin would make this work, because once he set himself to achieving something, there was nothing stopping him.
It took a lot of effort, a lot of international calls, and finally a lot of mackerel to drag Haru into it.
But now he was finally here. In his apartment. After four months of not seeing his boyfriend or feeling his soft skin. It was almost too much for Rin to handle, but he had to so this perfectly.
So, taking one final breath, he settled his present on the couch, making sure it was out of sight and mostly, out of danger.
Then, he slowly walked to their bedroom, making sure to keep his steps as light as possible.
The door was opened ajar, the faint glow of the tv being the only light inside the room.
For a second he thought that Ai might actually be asleep, even though it was just eleven pm, but then he heard it. He heard the slightly irritated sigh that Ai gave every time he couldn't find anything interesting to watch on tv, and it was enough for Rin to smile.
God he had missed him so much.
Without much more, Rin opened the door and stepped inside. The sudden noise made Ai flinch and turn his head. The redhead could see all the different emotions going through him: fear, surprise, confusion. When he saw those perfect blue eyes start to water, he was quick on his feet and ran towards the bed. He practically launched himself over his boyfriend, enveloping as much as his body as possible while he nuzzled his neck and face.
Ai's hands were all over, skimming over every inch of Rin's body he could reach, not entirely believing what was happening.
When the shock was gone and their desperation finally culminated, they lips collided with so much force and need it was almost painful, but it wasn't enough at the same time.
They kissed and kissed for what seemed like an eternity, and they would have continued if it hadn't been for Rin.
The redhead finally leaned back and rubbed his nose against Ai's, his eyes closed and just enjoying the moment, the warm feeling that he always felt whenever he was close to Ai.
"I missed you so much" he finally whispered, lips so close Ai could feel his breath over his own lips, tasting it.
"What.. what are you doing here?" Ai finally asked, his brain slowly coming back to him.
"What are you talking about? I live here, remember?"
Ai didn't need to see it, he knew Rin was smirking.
"You know what I meaaan" he whined, arms locking even tighter around Rin's torso.
"I just had to see you."
Ai peered over at his boyfriend, locking eyes with him. He knew it was a joke, but something in Rin's eyes made him think that maybe he really had missed enough to come back home to him.
"I missed you so much that my own coach thought I was miserable and let me take a little break."
"A break?"
"Yeah… all the guys are on their way to Hawaii. We usually have the weekend off, so coach let me leave early. I'll be there by monday though"
"You're staying the whole weekend?!"
"Yup"
"OH MY GOD!"
Ai sat himself up, bringing Rin with him as he crushed him in his tiny arms.
"I can't believe you're here!"
"I know"
They hugged and kissed and nuzzled for a while more, before Rin remembered that he had brought something with him.
"Listen, Ai.." He took Ai's face between his hands, a thumb running over his beauty mark.
"I know you haven't been doing great. All of our friends are worried. I'm worried.."
"It's not that bad"
"Nobody saw you for three weeks"
"I just miss you okay? It's not like I don't want to see them, it's just.. "
"It's just what?"
"They remind me of you, and all we've been though together and it just makes it worse.."
"Oh Ai.." He kissed his forehead softly and bumped his nose with his own.
"I love you"
"I love you too. But please don't scare me like that again"
Ai just nodded, eyes closed as he nuzzled back into Rin's neck, small hands gripping even tighter into his clothes.
"Hey.. hey, look at me."
Ai looked back into those eyes and couldn't help the butterflies in his stomach.
"I brought you something.. Come here"
Rin took Ais hand and lifted him out of bed. After threading their fingers together he pulled Ai out of their room and into the living room.
He turned on the lights and went to take a small box with a messy ribbon.
"This is for you, it's ours. He will be here and you won't feel alone anymore. He's my temporary replacement."
Ai lifted one eyebrow as he saw Rin fumble with the box.
"Only temporary okay? I will be back to take my place, so don't steal it from me okay? Can you promise that?"
Ai was pretty sure Rin wasn't talking to him anymore, and for a fraction of a second, he thought Rin might have lost his mind. But then, he saw it. First it was just a paw, but then there he was. Licking enthusiastically at Rin's fingers and wagging his tail with fervor, right in Rin's arms was the cutest puppy Ai had ever seen.
It was white and fluffy and with big round eyes.
He shrieked.
"OH MY GOD! OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD RIIIIN!"
"Do you like it?"
"I LOVE IT! Him? Her?"
"It's a he"
"What's his name?" Ai asked, as he sprawled on the floor, turning the puppy around and kissing his belly.
"I.. don't know yet. Thought it would be better if we came up with it together?"
The puppy jumped all over Ai, nipping whatever he could with his tiny teeth. Ai couldn't stop giggling.
It was the best thing Rin had ever experienced. Ai giggling and rolling around, trying to escape from a tiny white cloud of fluff.
"What about Aki?"
Ai took the puppy in his hands and looked at his face intently.
"Aki?"
The puppy turned his head and sneezed.
"I guess Aki it is!"
The next hour was spent feeding and petting Aki until it was time for bed.
Rin went to get his bag and turn off all the light, and by the time he came back, both Ai and Aki were asleep, cuddling together. Rin couldn't help taking his phone out and taking a picture. Ai was on his back, the puppy half hanging off his chest and resting his head on his neck.
He would make that his phone wallpaper.
Rin changed his clothes and finally climbed into bed, next to his boys. He gave them both a kiss before looking back at his bag.
He thought of the small velvet box hiding inside of it, and then looked back at Ai. They were sleeping happily and he was tired, besides, today had been hectic enough. Luckily for him, he had a whole weekend in front of him. A whole weekend to enjoy and cherish his time with his favorite boy, well boys.
Maybe if he was lucky enough, they would stay with him tonight and for the rest of his nights.
17. Do you prefer Gideon or Rossi? Elle or Emily? Blake or Kate? Rossi, Emily, not sure about the last one, Blake I think.
23. If you had to be one of the characters, who would you want to be?This is tricky because like I’d sell my kidney and half of my liver to look like Reid and be as smart as him, but on the other hand life has treated him like shit so I wouldn’t actually want to BE him. *shrugs*
