…- a rule you think is important when it comes to role playing
Having clearly-defined boundaries on what a person unwilling to RP is pretty important to me, especially given my own personal tastes when it comes to sensitive subjects/NSFW concepts and threads.
Playing around with unhealthy dynamics and situations is something I’m really interested in. I mean…. I rp’d Hannibal Lecter for nearly four years, if that gives you any clue what I’m talking about. So it’s not just things like violence or gore but also abuse/neglect situations and messy familial relationships and all kinds of things that people are often sensitive about (sometimes without even realizing it).
RP is ultimately about having fun writing a character the mun (probably) relates to, so I don’t ever want to make anyone feel uncomfortable or unhappy by bringing up something that hits too close to home. I’ve actually done it to myself before, pushed past my own boundaries of comfort in order to pursue a plot point/develop a character trait. And while doing so can feel satisfying to me in a cathartic sort of way, I know it isn’t the same for a lot of other people.
