               Well, this was something Tenya was truly proud to proclaim as a top student. He believed that ranking systems were there to help recognize who are in need of aid academically. Of course, the class president wasn’t close to Momo’s smarts but surely, he knows that he has extended knowledge on most of their subjects. Thus, hearing that Shoto was struggling, he opened himself up to get the other back at his normal pace.

“What subject was it? We still have some free time left before the next class so it is suggested that we double check your answers so you can get full marks. Your brain doesn’t function well if it’s awake at a late hour, after all.”

               Tedious things such as homework shouldn’t hinder a person’s recommended eight hours of sleep, as Iida lived up to this belief. He was working mentally work as he continued to maintain this time table of sleep and any day he does, at least, lose one hour of it would create a huge gap to how he would function for the day. Tenya surely didn’t want that to happen and doesn’t want anyone else to suffer the same thing!

“Probably...” With a sheepish smile, Izuku looked over to his friend.

“I didn’t get too much sleep last night...” He was up late watching hero new clips, writing down various analysis and moves. After that, he was reading a few books and web articles before realizing just how late it had gotten.

Shoto could have sworn the scent of something singeing emanated from below his chin, but he didn’t think his skin was burning, although it felt close to that temperature. Dabi’s fire was blue, last he remembered being told… they were much hotter than Shoto could ever get with his own — not without serious repercussions for reaching past his current limit. And even then… a self-imposed inferno only yielded white and red flames.

He stopped breathing for a moment, considering Dabi’s limits now. It would be too coincidental if those scars were from his quirk… but the phenomenon of users unable to bear their quirks wasn’t unfamiliar to him; Shoto recalled Midoriya and Aoyama.

They look an awful lot like burn scars this close up. But it wasn’t like Shoto had proof to back up his theory. For all he knew, the burns could’ve been from something else, or possibly just body modifications for some perverted aesthetic. 

The talking distracted Shoto a little from his thoughts, although it didn’t lessen the innate desire to escape from his entrapment. “…That’s all?” he asked, immediately regretting his words. Of course that wouldn’t be all, as much he could hope so. Giving just enough time for Dabi to possibly ponder crushing his wrists that suddenly felt too bony for Shoto’s comfort, he amended after a pause: “I barely talk to him.” Why does he even care?

That was… unsurprising, Dabi decided. It wasn’t like his time with family had been flush with communication. Put a little bit of a wrench in his budding plans, but not too much of one. Not too much at all.

His eyes flickered back to the mouth of the alley. He’d either have to let the kid go and call Kurogiri to get picked up or drag him away from the thoroughfare, but he didn’t want to rush it. Every second was a second that Dabi had to use carefully.

“I guess the new number one doesn’t have a whole lot of time for his progeny, even his favorite.“ Endeavor never had much patience for those people who somehow failed him. Too long in his orbit and one tended to burn.

Dabi took a long look at the kid’s face, searching out the edges of his brave mask, and flipped his fingers away from his wrists and down, almost like they were holding hands. One eyebrow ticked up, and he fought to keep his mouth from twisting out of it’s neutrality.

He cooled his hands as he gave Shoto’s fingers a quick, sharp squeeze. “And Fuyumi?“

Continued from here @koru-kogeru It wasn’t as if the assignment was relatively new to any of them by this point, already having grown comfortable with how it functioned which he would have assumed would make everyone feel a bit better about the entire ordeal in general. Although upon further inspection, it seemed that his partner was anything but comfortable. The only thing they had to anticipate were the enemies’ plan of attack but Todoroki didn’t seem like the guy to sweat something like that. A curious brow raising the more questions the predicament seemed to raise. It was unusual to see a rock tremble when nothing in view had disturbed it. Which could only mean that the battle was a bit more rooted than he originally thought. Though Mineta couldn’t pinpoint what could have possibly stirred this kind of reaction.

“Yeah, sure.” His feet would take him wherever Todoroki would lead them, occasionally glancing behind them for the sake of satisfying his uneasy mind. The stroll taken in silence other than the awful crunch of gravel beneath their feet taken with every step, allowing thoughts to jump from one conclusion to another. Throat suddenly parched as he considered the idea of pressing it just a little further in hopes of stilling whatever bad energy he seemed to radiate, though it came with the risk of provoking some sort of unwarranted reaction. “ ... Are you sure it’s nothing but jitters dude? You don’t look too hot.” Which was odd, considering who he was talking to. “It’d be a little easier if I knew what you were thinking, we’re supposed to be on the same thought process for the sake of the assignment, ya know?”

"Hey." He'd been thinking about his message for some time now, but now that Shoto was in front of the hero, it took a moment to recall the words. "I... wanted to thank you, for fighting with Endeavor against that monster." He bowed his head quickly, stiffly. "I know it's your job, but — things probably would've gone differently if you weren't with him."

His first thought ground against his skull like a deafening tinnitus, ringing with the hollowness of poorly-suppressed guilt and the latent paranoia of some phantom reckoning: If I hadn’t been there, he wouldn’t have needed to fight it in the first place. Not like that - brutalized.

Were he not so well-practiced in insincerity, Hawks might have had the decency to look ashamed instead of sporting a beaming smile in response to the teen’s gratitude. Alas, what choice did he have? Ugh, he’d just get on with the false modesty and change the subject. Should be easy enough - wasn’t this Endeavor’s kid, anyway? 

“Ah, don’t mention it,” he responded dismissively, tone chipper through a pleasant grin. “All in a day’s work, as you said.” Hawks paused, raising a hand to scratch at his chin as if he were truly contemplating who he could possibly be talking to. After a moment, he mimicked a look of abrupt recognition, though the subsequent curiosity twinkling in his eyes was genuine. “I remember seeing you in the sports festival. Shoto Todoroki, right? Well, well, I’m in the presence of a prodigy! It’s a pleasure to meet you. You put on quite a show!”

“ I don’t think this is such a good idea, Todoroki-chan. ” Tsuyu muttered, keeping close to the other. She wouldn’t have initially minded going to a haunted house, since Shoto was really reliable and if the house really was full of…beings, they could manage, but the thought of something popping up out of nowhere, like they were in a cheap horror movie seriously didn’t help. Besides, the atmosphere quite resembled an old horror blockbuster, not very comforting for the poor frog girl and her already rapidly beating heart.

Maybe it was a bit invasive, just a tiny bit, but she couldn’t contain herself from taking hold of Shoto’s sleeve as if she was a small child. She didn’t ask. but she hoped he didn’t mind, especially with how apparent it was on her face that she was quite scared. So much for being a fearless hero, huh?

“ Quite the atmospheric trip, right?” A nervous chuckle left her mouth, despite the grip on his sleeve tightening every second they spent there. This was the worst.

‘ who the fuck do you think you are? ’

It had been just too perfect an opportunity to pass up. There Dabi had been, minding his own business, maybe lurking if you wanted to get really technical, and just. And there he’d been, a fucking ghost. Walking right across the mouth of the alley Dabi had alighted in, making goosebumps rise on his uneven skin. It’d been a sign or some shit. One of the top rookies in the country walking alone, outside, casual as you please. If Dabi had been a religious man he would have sent up a prayer to thank whatever deity looked out for murdering criminals and delinquents for providing him the opportunity.

As it was, he had some genuinely unpious actions to take.

Viper-like he’d slipped from the shadows and wrapped one hand around the kid’s mouth, the other coming to his throat, blue flame flowering across his fingers just shy of touching.

“Use your quirk and it’ll be more than just your face that gets scarred.” He growled, already towing his hostage backwards into the gloom. He was glad that it was a relatively quiet street, the closest civilian several yards ahead of the youngest Todoroki.

He slammed him up against the closest wall, shifting his grip to hold the kids’ wrists in one hand, palms pressed together so as to limit his articulation, Dabi’s opposite hand staying at his throat.

Just looking at him made Dabi’s blood boil, fingers tightening around the teen’s wrists. It was only his exclamation that stopped blue fire from curling out around both of Dabi’s hands and brought him back from the edge.

And oh, what a question. He could feel one corner of his mouth ticking up in something not at all a smile. “Someone who wants a good look at Endeavor’s prized trophy without having to, how would you put it, get scalded?”
