IMHO: I have a thing for drunkenness and Deputy!Derek in fics. Not necessarily at the same time, but here it's the case. It's really funny, and not very serious. It's a reeeeeally quick read. It's perfect if you want something short and fluffy fun.

Officer Hale even does an imitation of Stiles' voice. Stiles whimpers. A sudden tackle to the ground apparently quickly sobers him. He's chilly in the gym shorts and sleeveless shirt Officer Hale lent him.

"Because vodka," Officer Hale repeats flatly.

“Seemed like a buttercream guy,” Stiles says innocently, and grabs two forks and pours two huge glasses of milk. They eat in silence and when Stiles finishes his mouth is filled with the too-sweet taste of peanut butter icing and chocolate cake, and he’s full, but he feels good, too. He stares at Derek, who’s licking his lips after his last bite of cake.  “I think I’m probably not straight,” he says suddenly.  And Derek says, “I ripped down the whole top floor of the house this morning thinking about Laura.”

Four months.

Four months they’ve managed to avoid one another. Stiles quit going to pack meetings. He quit doing research unless Scott really, really begged him to. He avoided driving the road that led out to the turnoff to the Hale house, he avoided going to all the spots where Derek might possibly be. Four months, and now, here they are, standing in the Minit Mart, Stiles thinks, staring down at the grimy tiles. He can hear the catch of Derek’s breath, and he closes his eyes and breathes deep.

Hello angst train, let me pay for my ticket with tears. This is so sad and touching and wonderful.

Sometimes he talks to Stiles about it, though. Stiles, who will let Isaac lay in his bed, listening to Stiles’ music and drinking Stiles’ Diet Dr. Pepper while Stiles edits Isaac’s school essays, points out where there are run-on sentences, and where Isaac needs to break things into paragraphs, while Isaac lies there and thinks and thinks about his life and how he got here. He talks to Stiles about ice cream with his dad and lacrosse drills with Cam, and Stiles smiles sadly and says, “There’s another run-on sentence; you’re the worst with them. You use ‘and’ too much. What was his favorite ice cream flavor?”

He leaves because the press of Derek’s lips and the sting of his teeth against Stiles’ neck are still burning his skin, and he can’t stop touching them, but then he remembers Derek telling him he’s not pack, he never was, and that he doesn’t belong here.

He leaves because Lydia asks him too, but he doesn’t go back to Beacon Hills because no one asked him to come back.

This is such a great fic! I love how drawn out the Sterek relationship is and the ending is actually the cutest!
