The way that vaporwave aesthetics have kind of been absorbed into liminal stuff is interesting to me. It's some ways it's a full circle moment. At some point in vaporwave culture the pastiche was lost and it became unapologetically nostalgic with none of that original critique. A lot of liminal art is really just vaporwave without those rose coloured glasses. It's at least philosophically the same. Instead of the overlapping dream-image of what existed in an abandoned space a few decades ago you just see it bare.
