'In the Beginning'

(Prologue to fantasy romance WIP)

It was a clear, sunny summer day like any other in Solburn Forest. The birds were singing, the tree bridges were bustling with busy subjects- every part of the Fae Kingdom was alive and vibrating with activity. The Princess’ suitor was to arrive today, the wedding was this evening and the banquet was set to last the fortnight. All was well, everyone was happy and eager to help.

Except for the Princess herself. She had taken to barricading herself in the lofty Heart Tree Tower where few could reach. Neither her mother nor father or any of her siblings, aunts, uncles or servants could coax her from beyond the door. Not even promises of calling off the wedding- lie or not- brought the headstrong heir from her hole; so they decided to go in.

All they found was a half-rummaged room and a note proclaiming the Princess had fled the tower and disowned the kingdom. For what purpose? Her forbidden love with the Night King her parents had refused her hand to some moons before. They knew she was unhappy about the arrangement, but even her family questioned the validity of the note. But with no other proof available, the Sol family could only take the story the note told as the truth of the Princess’ disappearance.

She was never found again, nor was the Night King ever heard from again- at least not for nearly a century. When he did, the truth of the princess came out as he unleashed a hateful, all-consuming fog to wander the country. He had kidnapped her, made her his Queen and never allowed her to see the sun or sky again. The Night Queen had borne him a single heir- a single thread to renew his life; but she escaped his kingdom, fleeing to the once place he could not follow- the surface above where the Sun kept the Night King at bay.

But it did not stop the Wandering Fog, nor did it stop his allies that could so freely traverse the upper world.

His time is running out, and the girl is his only hope to continue his reign.

And she has no intentions of ever returning to her father’s Kingdom.

I believe this calls for a celebration! I want to give back to all you wonderful, beautiful people that follow my shenanigans. So I’ve arranged several things in what I’m calling….(wait for it).

I will then contact the winner so that they can discuss with me the specifics of the story they have in mind. Epic battle? Thrilling romance? Or silly RP shenanigans? You name it. I'll write it.

Secondly, I will have a celebratory Livestream of me playing Guild Wars 2 this Saturday around 5:00 pm. I will be playing through Tybalt's story for the first time on my Charr mesmer, Kazbek Stormshatter. Kosmic's GW2 Short Story Corner

Was playing WvW earlier today and a crushing defeat inspired me to write a small short story on Kazrec's forays into the Mist Wars. 

As far as lorewise, I'd have to say that this takes place in Kazrec's early days. He has just made Legionnaire and is training in order to improve his tactical and combat skills. It's a good look into some of the things that helped shape him into the Charr he is today. It's up on my RP blog here.
