Since Hazuki and Tamaki become close friends in middle school, I can imagine Doremi has adopted her as a friend by that point too. They still bicker and butt heads, but it's mostly lighthearted.
Tamaki hosts a lot of parties. I can imagine a lot of Rhonda LLoyd esque episode ideas arise from this.

Momoko and Yada are friends. Yada, of course, would never admit that though.

The Ojamajo, sos trio and Tamaki and Koari always show up to halloween shivoos in matching costumes.
Kotake can play the clarinet. I chose this as it's an instrument that sounds good with both the trumpet and piano.
Tamaki plays the viola. I would like to imagine she'd play something larger than life but I think the fact the viola is so diminutive and demure speaks volumes to her true personality. It pairs well with Hazuki too.
Hana loves Weird Al.
Yada and Kotake lowkey aren't really good friends with one another. This caused them to mostly resign themselves to their other groups (Kotake with Itou and Yada with Hasebe) around grade five but they mature and make up middle school (or even earlier idk.) This headcanon is inspired by the toxicity I've seen second hand in primary school. I always thought boys had such a strong sense of camaraderie considering how big their circles tend to be, but honestly, they can be just as cruel as girls are. Doremi probably has this same mindset.
Itou is a really sweet kid, like, really sweet. To the point most wonder how he could be friends with someone like Kotake. Who knows? Maybe the two aren't so different.
Manda and Itou would be friends.
Itou, Kine Hiroko and some other classmates are dyslexic.
If Doremi took place in the modern day, the sos trio have definitely made a school meme account that was heavily reprimanded in school assembly XD.
Seki's class is uncharacteristically quiet whenever Doremi is sick.
Momoko is the techie in a lot of the Misora school plays.
Maruyama Miho has an art tablet with lots of stickers on it.
Miyamae Sora and Momoko keep in touch. Same with Yada but not to the same extent, despite being closer.

Hazuki is very particular about her stationary and is the kind of person to bring everything to an exam. Doremi is the opposite and whenever she does over-prepare, somehow she never brings the right materials.
Pop continues the tradition of a music club when Doremi leaves for middle school.
Nobuko and Miho definitely have made gacha life videos of their peers before.
Nobuko and Miho excessively use emoticons and writing quirks in texts, to the point they are the only people who can comprehend one another’s messages.
I think it'd be funny if one of the classmates had a secret crush on Tamaki. Haven't thought of who though. It wouldn't be serious either, I just think it'd make for good conflict and scenarios hehe.
Kayako is Autistic, ADHD, has depression and Anxiety. .. I’m not projecting- hehe jk. It’s very very implied anyway but that’s for another post.

Yada has a lot of acne during puberty. He’s very insecure about it, but Hazuki assures him it’s perfectly normal. She also thinks it’s weirdly cute.
Tamaki would looove Regency Era London and Rococo fashion. Doremi is the same too. Tamaki loves ostentatious, garish and flashy fashion in general.
Doremi likes abstract art because it gives her ‘an excuse to make bad art’
Momoko works part time as a DJ and loves raving when she’s older.
Doremi love strawberries. Inspired by the hoodie she wears in carnival.
This one is very self-indulgent: Doremi likes dressing in a more decora-kei inspired style in middle school. It’s not superfluous, but she definitely wears more accessories. In a more faithful interpretation, she probably goes through a phase where dress a bit more maturely (in a formal way, not suggestive btw) but realises she needs to be true to herself.
Doremi is definitely a late bloomer. She gets her period later than her friends. Additionally, her and Hazuki are flat-chested for a while too. Doremi’s insecure about it but she feels better remembering what Yuki-sensei said about everybody’s body being different. Because of this she isn’t teased for it, because her classmates remember that day too.
Aiko gets her period first and makes it everyone’s problem haha.
Even though Doremi keeps in touch with all her friends, she won’t admit she still feels an emptiness in her heart without her close friends around.
Aiko and Onpu are the kind of prople to say they’re brutally honest [without any tact.] It’s definitely something they’re working on.
Doremi volunteers a lot.

Tamaki is the one who gave Kaori her iconic camera. She gives her a lot of expensive gifts and while Kaori is beyond grateful for them, she feels conflicted about it. Especially when she gives her presents as a replacement for an apology. Tamaki doesn’t know how to express gratitude or affection in a normal way; It’s a mindset she’s adopted from her parents.
Everyone thinks Doremi’s favourite colour is pink, but she actually likes red the tiniest bit more. This hc could also be switched with Pop.
Shiori is diabetic and her classmates - namely Yada, Hazuki and Doremi - keep lollies with them in case her blood sugar ever decreases.
Nishizawa-sensei writes fanfiction. She also loves telenovelas.
Seki-sensei has a slow metabolism (to contrast the fact Yuka has a fast one)
Tamaki goes to school even when she’s terribly sick. Everyone habitually stays away from her even if she coughs once.
Hana is a mentor/maternal figure for Fami when she’s Queen.
I think it would be fun if Pop wasn’t popular with the boys in grade three/four so she isn’t so unlike Doremi in that regard. Pop isn’t as boy crazy as her sister was at that age is though.
Doremi doesn’t work a part time job until she’s an adult. cough projecting cough. However, aforesaid: she would def volunteer and help around her community a lot.
Doremi is diagnosed with ADHD faaarr later in life.
Momoko can cook a mean nyc style pizza.
Hasebe and Mutsumi binge Invincible together [as teens.] They both read the comix before the show came out and make fun of the low animation quality. They’ve def cosplayed Atom Eve and Invincible too (platonically).
Yada thinks Hazuki looks weird without her glasses. Not that he finds her unattractive of anything, he just thinks the glasses complete the look (˶◜ᵕ◝˶)

I guess the best way to describe it is that he’s one of the only characters’ who consistently vexes her. I wish he could’ve been used as a vessel to challenge her views for the better as any foil should. Ideally Doremi would highlight his more positive qualities and vice versa. Although, Kotake does successfully act as a foil for Doremi’s selfless nature. Aforementioned, while she isn’t the most self-sacrificing towards Kotake but she most definitely cares for him the most obsessively - at least in Naisho.
I also like just how unbothered she is most of the episode. Doremi talks about him like she already knows what he’s going to do or say. As seen with the tire going flat or forgetting about bringing food. As mentioned before, it accentuates the connection between them. I this connection and sense of camaraderie is a much needed aspect in their relationship!!!! Especially in a romantic one.
Kotake and Doremi’s relationship also provides a lot of comedic fodder and it would’ve been hilarious seeing Doremi yearn for love when everyone can see it right in her face. The ojamajo prodding her about their unbeknownst affection for each other is so damn funny. HAZUKI AND AIKO WERE RAGEBAITING DOREMI SO HARD DHFADHAHD/
THESE GUYS PARALLEL EACH OTHER SOO MUCH IN NAISHO IT’S CRAZY.
Its HEAVILY implied that he is just as insecure as Doremi is!!! I wish they explored his toxic masculinity in the original show!!!

The fact he’s so irresponsible, short-sighted and clumsy is HIGHLY reminiscent of Doremi!!
Also side note the way Kotake gushes over being called a leader mirrors when Doremi was called senpai in s1e3. Just sayinnnn 🎶🎶
I swear I had more to add. I’ll just revise this if I do x3. I know there’s a lot to evaluate outside of Naisho but I don’t remember the exact details to discuss it here. To close things out and reiterate: I do understand the hate for Kotadore!! I just think the narrative and conflict potential between them is severely untalked about. I hope my rambling made sense!!! !
Unstructured ramble on Kotake part 1!!
Before I dive in I just wanna say pleasee don’t make any condescending remarks about this as it makes me really insecure.. I completely understand the detest towards Kotadore and I just ask those who see this to read it with an open mind. I totally empathise with the hate for the trope of a guy teasing a girl to cover up his feelings, but I’m a shortaki fanatic so I gotta give my two cents on em.
Ojamajo Doremi is effective at writing charming, relatable and empathetic characters - SO WHY IS KOTAKE SO NOTHING BURGER!!!! Him and Doremi had a lot of potential to be really engaging foils for one another. It’s frustrating to see a prominent character get the short end of the stick. Like come on, unraveling the psyche behind why a person acts the way they do is kind of Doremi’s bread and butter. It’s also really proficient at having a characters' upbringing reflect their values and personality - but that’s a topic for another essay. WE DON’T EVEN KNOW WHAT HIS PARENTS ARE LIKE. We don’t even know much about Doremi and Kotake prior to grade three. They’ve known each other SINCE THEY WERE TODDLERS. Tamaki and Kotake have LITERALLY sat by Doremi for YEARS.
On the note of both Tamaki and Kotake, I really wish they formed a frenemy trio!!! Their dynamic should have been explored. Kotake totally should’ve matured the same way Tamaki did !!!! Just sayin!!!!
For an anime so good at character development and slow burn, you’d think Kotake would mature right?!!? The moments hinting depth to his character are arbitrary.
Doremi is good with people and friendship. This is easily her most admirable quality. Romance on the other hand… I think someone with such a naive perception of love having to navigate it through someone like Kotake would be the most absorbing route. I think unlike a character like Tamaki, who also frequently irritates her, Doremi eventually comes to understand her psyche. Kotake on the other hand frustrates her more as it’s implied she can’t fully grasp why he acts the way he does. It reminds me a lot of Arnold. Kotadore reminds me of shortaki in general. Tbf I might be watching too much Hey Arnold. Unfortunately, Kotake is not anywhere as close to being compelling or empathetic as a character like Helga. He’s honestly a very flat character. He likes doremi and soccer; that’s basically it. I will admit a lot of my observations are speculation - HOWEVER NOT ALL OF THEM ARE UNFOUNDED. However I find it dissapointing, because he is an important character. I stress just how much potential he has because I know the writers are capable of more. Yada Masaru is a key example of how to do a love interest right. We see his domestic dynamics, extensively dissects why this impacts his personality and is overall a rounded character. You would think Kotake who is the love interest to THE MAIN CHARACTER would get even a sliver of the same treatment.
However….
In Naisho they are SO DIFFERENT. LIKE, THE WRITERS REALLY DECIDED TO LOCK TF IN. THEY ARE SO MUCH MORE ENDEARING AND CHARMING. ?!! Irregardless of fandom consensus, can we agree they’re cute in naisho at least… I digress- It shows a completely different side to them. Their interactions are so casual… they come across as people who have history and at the end of the day care for one another. Also DAMN she’s so weirdly protective of him??? (/pos) It’s interesting to see her be this concerned and doesn’t even REALISE IT. In Naisho she’s drawn to him in a way that almost feels far deeper than usual.
On the other hand, Kotake's characterisation has been improved by TENFOLD. It’’s far more obvious he likes Doremi, like, to a cartoonish degree. Who would’ve known actually showing fondness toward his crush would make him more likeable!!? (/s) Additionally, his jeers are toned down and far less mean-spirited. It also helps that the bickering is very equal this time around.
It’s refreshing having Doremi be so petty. It’s intriguing seeing a girl who’s matured so much return to her neurotic almost childish tendencies because of him. When dealing with loutish people, she at least tries not to stoop to their level but in Naisho she does NOT hesitate LMAO #deserved. At least Doremi talked badly BEHIND Tamakis back 😭🙏 It’s also so telling because if it were any other classmate in that situation, she would never tease them about being vulnerable.
