RIP George Samuel Kirk. Murdered by a giant parasitic brain cell from space, that looked a little like plastic dog barf.

It’s kind of weird how little grief is explored on Star Trek TOS. Hey Jim? How are you feeling? Your bro is dead and your sister in law and nephew aren’t looking too good, like probably not gonna make it…

Was this just a sign of the times? A preference in television writing? Was exploring grief too unmanly? I wonder if they would have served their stories better/character arcs if they had done two part episodes? At least Spock’s inner eyelid saved him from blindness.

Listen I am aware that TOS actors wore all that makeup so they didn't look so washed out on old tv sets. But I choose to believe that they actually just liked wearing smokey eyes and pink lip gloss and criminal amounts of blush. That's just how the men of the enterprise are. Spock and bones share an eyeshadow palette. Bones taught Kirk to apply lip gloss.
