“K-Kou?”

For a moment, Mikey almost seems... uncharacteristically nervous, as he turns around to face Kou with a surprised expression. He looks like a deer in the headlights, eyes wide and skin a little pale... but it only lasts for half a second before he smiles, quickly going back to normal as if nothing was ever wrong.

“Hey! How’ve you been doing?”

" you're bleeding ! " for teru

Teru can't stop his shoulders from stiffening when he hears Kou. So, his attempts to sneak past his younger brother were fruitless, huh? Reaching up, the older Minamoto rubs his sleeve over the gash on his cheek. It looked more serious than it really was, but he knew Kou wasn't going to listen to him. The boy was prone to worrying.

"Oh, this? It's not a big deal. I was just going to go patch it up." Teru gave Kou one of his signature dazzling smiles he knew wasn't going to work. But it was worth a shot.

“...Kou.”

There’s a serious expression on Mikey’s face as he looks over at the other boy. ...And for a few moments, he doesn’t say anything at all. He doesn’t know what to say. But then...

“Can you really do this? It’s really possible, right?”

It’s not like he doesn’t believe in Kou. They’re friends, and Mikey trusts him, but... it’s only natural to have doubts in this situation, right? To have fears, and hesitations - even now, Mikey can hear his heart pounding loudly in his chest, and his hands feel sweaty with nerves. Of course, none of it shows on his face at all. Mikey refuses to let it show.

If Kou’s been lying to him about what he can do... Mikey will never forgive him. But there’s no need to worry, because Kou’s not lying. He’s sure of it.

Today, Mikey will see his brother again.

Local vengeful spirit puts Nene’s cleaning bucket full of hot water over the bathroom door so that the next time Kou busts in he’s gonna get either a concussion or a face full of Pine-Sol. God can decide which. @kouheen​

miscellaneous angst starters

"No," Hanako mumbled, blunt and bleary eyed against the afternoon sun. He shifted toward the window, eager to hide his face.

"I don't sleep, dummy. Maybe you forgot."

Hanako did not sleep. He never slept. And if he was sitting in the window alcove looking absolutely out of it, curled in on himself, the jacket of his gakuran wrapped around his shoulders, and his voice rough with the grit of some career sandman, he wasn't about to acknowledge it. Only second rate liars conceded the obvious, and Hanako fancied himself more of a first class liar.

"Go away."

Mikey's expression is serious as he looks back at Kou. His own eyes are empty and blank, almost impossible to read - but that's how it often is, with him. It takes him a moment before he answers, but eventually, he says... "I don't think you're lying to me. You're telling the truth, aren't you?"
