It had been a while since Ookurikara had taken a night shift.
The perpetual short staffing wasn't going anywhere, and for some reason tonight the entire town must have decided they wanted to pick up their refills (and buy other items while they were at it). By the time the line finally lets up, it's almost midnight, and Ookurikara dreads having to be here for any longer. Even though the next few hours would most likely be quieter than the last.
He goes to the break room and practically sinks into the chair, which only marginally does anything for the ache in his back. Jikkyuu had originally offered to drop him home after they closed for the night, but ended up having to leave early due to a 'family emergency', leaving Ookurikara and Yuichi to deal with the aftermath. Without the pharmacist here they couldn't touch the prescription medications (which in of itself led to angry customers), and the front register staff had already left so the two also had to deal with literally anyone that came in.
All in all a recipe for disaster on top of his already precarious mental state.
Ookurikara doesn't even realize when Yuichi enters the room, until Yuichi places a water bottle in front of him-- heck he doesn't realize the tears in his own eyes until this point either. He looks up at his coworker, who had went and closed the entire store just because Ookurikara was worrying him.
Yuichi's hand on his shoulder is the catalyst to break his silence, a shaky sigh escaping him as he does.
"...You don't have to go so far for me. I--" They both know he's not fine so there's no point in lying. Not to mention this isn't the first time Yuichi has seen him like this, so unsure of himself, so tired of himself.
He's almost about to say he just needs a few minutes to recollect himself, but is that really enough? Maybe he should just go home…
