Ookurikara had never thought of himself as being this petty, yet here he is. In his defense it was Souza that had asked to be introduced to Jikkyuu, but knowing Hasebe would be seething at this-- good.

It's not like he was trying to get on his coworker's bad side on purpose. Hasebe never liked Ookurikara from the start, and while normally he didn't care about what other people thought, Hasebe committed the unforgivable offense of badmouthing Mitsutada.

So yeah, anything that pisses Hasebe off is a win in his book.

But the fact that Hasebe has rudely interrupted their 'double date' as Souza had dubbed it (this wasn't even Ookurikara's idea, Mitsutada had suggested it, Jikkyuu unsurprisingly and Souza surprisingly agreed to it) -- Ookurikara is starting to wish he had just stayed home because he did not sign up for this.

"Get some rest then, Kara-chan." Izayoi is the first to stand offering the sword a soft smile, unaware of the images in his head. She just knows time and space usually help.

Morning comes and Izayoi is sitting in her office writing out reports from the latest sorties. She has a lot to think about, especially with how Ookurikara acted last night. She hoped maybe the rest would let him open up a little bit more, she had her doubts but-

The door knocking takes her back to the present and she looks up.

"Kara-chan? It's open."

"...I'll try." Ookurikara is convinced he'll either be unable to sleep or end up knocked out for twelve hours straight. Normally he wouldn't mind the latter but considering he needed to be up early tomorrow...

Fortunately for him it was neither-- though he did end up somewhat late to the kitchen. Yamanbagiri didn't seem to mind, and breakfast for today wasn't too difficult.

After cleaning up, Ookurikara heads to the saniwa's office, and is surprised she could tell it was him knocking. Though he supposes she can probably sense her swords' presence.

He enters the room and just stands awkwardly, because really, how is he even supposed to begin this conversation? 'I saw a woman that looked almost just like you and her baby get murdered by the kebiishi because I saved them from some bandits.' ?????

The more he thinks about it the more he wonders if she really needs to know that. Especially about the resemblance.

The whole time she talks, Saseki had been s-l-o-w-l-y sipping on his iced coffee and just......gives her this side-eye look that's partly "gurl tf were you even doing at the lounge in the first place" and partly "AND YOU DIDN'T EVEN INVITE YOUR BEST BHAIYA ALONG?? r00d >:["

Mentally clocking in his head, I'm prolly not sober enough for this conversation either. "I'd be hella surprised if that came from Hasebe, guy never seem to have any good word for Kuri this whole semester."

But he's damn proud of his achievement really, having expertly getting those two to be in the same room with no interruption (do not question his methods on that).

Then, just because he's a cheeky lil shyt, he leans forward and grins, "Do you think he might be? I mean nothin wrong with being one, I think it's cute ;3c"

"Actually it was Mitsutada himself, I mean, I guess he would know firsthand..." Yeah this is taking her in a direction she does not want to go. "Though it was more like Tsuru-san prying into Mitsutada's love life and Hasebe not wanting to be a part of the conversation."

Saseki asking for her opinion catches her off guard, and this time she almost spits out her shake.

"Uh-- well-- maybe??? I mean he gives off this vibe like he's never been in a relationship and doesn't know what to do?" Completely ignoring she's basically the same as him. Wait would that also make her a--

Okay she needs to change gears fast.

"Anyways, you've probably heard Tsuru-san went and invited the entire history club to a party at his place. I'm not going-- everyone knows his parties get kinda crazy. I heard Nagasone is going to be there." She emphasizes his name, because she knows Saseki has been eyeing him for a while now.

Hana takes a bite out of her karepan before taking a long sip of her zunda shake. Oh Saseki thinks she didn't know what that word means? Just because she has no experience doesn't mean she's clueless.

"I may have overheard Tsuru-san and Mitsutada and Hasebe talking in the lounge. I think they were drunk. Because otherwise I don't think Mitsutada would have said 'Kara-chan is so cute' five times in the same sentence."

Was this really any of her or even Saseki's business? No but Saseki was the reason Ookurikara and Mitsutada got together instead of mutually pining for the next three years.

However she is going to leave out everything else she heard in that conversation. Man those three had no filter when they were drunk. Not that Tsurumaru had one while sober.

"Can I...ask what happened?"

He looks so tired, and she can see it's not just the physical toll of his mission. What did he see? What exactly happened, he looked so shaken when she saw him...

"If you don't want to talk now, we can in the morning....You can see me in the office when you're done morning chores."

She wouldn't force him to tell her, that never worked, she understood some swords needed patience instead of a push. "I'm just glad you're okay, Ookurikara."

He doesn't want to brush off the saniwa's concern, but at the same time he can't bring himself to tell her anything-- not when every time he looks at her all he can see is--

The uchigatana can only stare in abject horror as the oodachi that just slammed him into the ground turns to face the woman cowering in fear yet shielding the child in her arms. It raises it's blade and--

"Tomorrow morning..." He's on cooking duty tomorrow with Yamanbagiri. The other uchigatana probably won't ask any questions, thankfully. If it had been one of the Date swords or Kasha... he'd be seen straight through.

Izayoi being this kind even after he came back from that mission accomplishing absolutely nothing except for getting himself mangled... He doesn't want to let her down more than he already has.

Because going out with one of the most popular guys on campus is going to bring him an obscene amount of unwanted attention. He'd prefer if it wasn't public information.

Though it was Saseki that had pushed them to finally confess in the first place (seriously, how did he manage to get the two in the same room alone without any of their nosy friends eavesdropping) so he'll give him some grace.

Waking Yagen didn't take long, and now Izayoi was waiting for him to get done taking care of Ookurikara's wounds before the saniwa bombarded him with questions. She didn't cry, just sat there stubbornly watching him like a hawk until Yagen was done.

Waiting patiently, she simply sits there, letting him talk in his own time but she can't help but ask-

"Kara-chan, are you okay?"

Is he okay? Physically-- more exhausted than anything else but he'll manage thanks to Yagen. The painkillers already started working and luckily his wounds weren't as deep as he had initially thought they were.

Mentally-- he thought he had already grown numb to the horrors of war, but apparently that isn't the case.

"'m fine..." He closes his eyes, "Just tired..."
