The most recent visit on Knowledge Network's BC-Wide Road Tour was a stop on Salt Spring Island. From the float plane terminal in downtown Vancouver to the inner harbour of Ganges, we were ready for a little "island-time"!
After arriving at the lovely and eco-friendly Harbour House Hotel, we were whisked away for a private tour of the hotel's organic farm by farmer Rob. The farm supplies the Harbour House Restaurant with fruits, vegetables, herbs and more to create a daily smorgasbord of delicious food year round. If they can't grow it on the farm, they look locally, to keep everything sustainable.
The next day started with a speaking engagement at the Salt Spring Island Probus Club where over 60 locals showed up for a presentation by Knowledge Network President and CEO Rudy Buttignol. By the afternoon we had over 80 Knowledge Partners join us for a donor reception at the hotel. The reception included a sneak peak at our 2011 fall schedule.
All in all it was a short, but extremely sweet trip to the Southern Gulf's largest and most populated island. The people were great and the community was vibrant. We'd like to thank Don Hartwig of the Probus Club and the staff at the Harbour House Hotel (most notably Romy Sugden) for their help and hospitality!
Next time you are on Salt Spring Island, make sure to check out the yummy food at the Harbour House Restaurant, the Saturday Market in Ganges, and the Tree House Cafe for 111 nights of live music as well as all the local art.
