genuinely music is music, and if people like edm with their kpop let the people enjoy! if people don't then they shouldn't hate on those who do! people like what they like and i think people who judge people with complex music tastes (especially common within the kpop community i've seen) why are kpop fans so like picky and choosey bro 😭😭
They are completely glazing their favorites even if the song is genuine ass cheeks. Like compared to groups whos have EDM as their core sound their favorite groups are just jumping onto the hype train. They're companies understand that those sounds do well, stock wise and they needed to join instead of sticking to the groups concept. Katseyes concept have done a full 180°. Their early songs werent like their new ones.
Should Dating be Considered a Scandal (part2)
Syd: As far as the sasaengs their just one group of fans and when the idols date they are already aware of the saesangs so its their risk
Jess: Not all fans disapprove of their idols being in a relationship. Dating is always a controversial topic not only in the kpop industry.
Krow: yes, revealing the truth is what's best, but fans never know what the true truth is. They believe what they want, and if it damages the reputation, it's a scandal
Jess: The definition of a scandal is “an action or event regarded as morally or legally wrong and causing general public outrage.” The action of dating is not morally wrong as it is accepted by society and everyone has the decision to date or not. Legally, if the terms are not stated in a contract the action is also legal. While the action may be considered controversial, the general public can only express their opinions.
Krow: There's multiple meanings to the word scandal though, so we can't just look at one
Krow: if fans come to their own conclusions, it could also be considered "malicious gossip" which is also another definition of scandal.
Brenda: Yes but when you think of a scandal what's the first thing you think of? Something socially outrageous that you would hope never happened to you right? So should dating really be lumped into that category? It's not like they're getting married just yet- they're just testing the waters
Syd:I realize that dating isn't illegal or wrong but it could still cause a public outrage if they have a large enough fan base
Jess: In general, a scandal means an action or event that results in outrage. Gossip is usually revealed to not be true. They're nothing more than rumours and opinions spread by individuals who usually cannot base these opinions on cold hard facts.
Brenda: And to add to that- fans are like the fbi. A rumor of that sort would quickly be dismissed or disproven should it not be true.
Syd: But for example if sehun started dating sunny a lot of people wouldn't support it and cause a social outrage therefore it's a scandal
Jess: Pretty much anything an idol does could be considered controversial and result in a "scandal". Kpop idols are still human beings and many people forget that because fans often put their idols on a pedestal. Idols still have their own life goals and dreams.
Krow: However, before a rumor is proven/disproven, the effects have already effected (lmao wat) the people receiving the news-- people are already forming opinions about the subject matter and "hating on", or "loving on" an idol.
Jess: Think about how often idols end relationships with their partners because of the public reaction. They try their best to protect those they love but the way many fans act, its incredibly difficult.
brenda: And to add to Jess's point- they're not gonna be idols forever. They're gonna retire someday and want a family, do you really want them to have missed the opportunity to find "the one" just to keep some fans happy?
Jess: Idols are people too and people build relationships with others around them. Friendships and even love. What right does the public have to prevent someone from starting a relationship with someone they love?
Krow: But like I've been saying, as long as it damages their reputation, it can be considered a scandal. It has nothing to do with whether or not they should or should not reveal it to the public or whether it's right or wrong.
Syd:while kpop idols are human and they should be happy they have a reputation to with hold and to be role models so they have to take the fans into consideration because in most cases they date after their an idol so they know the risks of the outrage
Jess: What's wrong with someone's role model dating? It not the same as if the idol was using drugs or drunk driving. Dating is a normal part of everyone's lives and by making such a big deal out of it, it deters idols from building these relationships.
Syd: Scandals can be from anything age, past, behavior but no matter what it still causes an outrage
Brenda: But how far should this scandal go? Because yes I agree that it will be considered a matter of public outrage regardless but is it really necessary to threaten them for something as common as dating? It's not like fans are stopping themselves from dating.
Krow: again, it also has nothing to do with threatening..
Jess: The public could express outrage over anything. Does that mean that anything an idol does should be considered a scandal? That's just unreasonable.
Should Dating be Considered a Scandal (part1)
Syd: Dating should be considered a scandal especially with kpop because there are so many rumors revolving around relationships and depending on the circumstances it can upset fans.
Jess: Dating should not be considered a scandal because it involves no one but the two people involved in the relationships. Dating is a personal choice of the idol and does not directly impact the entertainment company of which the idol is signed. The decision to date does not directly impact fans since fans do not personally know the idols.
Syd: They should be aware of any strange circumstances such as extreme age difference because it says a lot about the individual character.
Brenda: But should it really upset fans to the point where they want the idol removed? It’s their private life and decisions- They’re here to entertain not to swear a chastity vow.
Krow: A scandal isn’t just “a disgraceful or discreditable action.” It also means “damage to reputation” which, in a sense, dating is doing to the idol in such relationship.
Jess: If the company chooses to involve themselves into personal matters such as these, it could be considered a violation of basic human rights and privacy. The idol should only date if he/she fully understands the possible outcomes and consequences.
Brenda: And as fans we should support an idol and be understanding of their decisions. If they’re making a “mistake” let them. They’re human beings- it comes with life.
Jess: Fans are nothing more than just fans. They do not know the idols personally and cannot expect the idols to always put the wants and needs of their fans before their own.
Krow: Its only a scandal when they choose to reveal it-- there is no reason for them to reveal it to fans, if they don’t wish for people to talk down on them because of it. If they wanted to date, we can’t stop them, but they aren’t obligated to reveal it. If they choose to reveal it, it can very much be called a scandal because they’re ruining their reputation through it.
Syd: I understand they make mistakes but we look up to them and I think that we should be informed of their relationships and how their acting because we care so much about them
Krow: If idols aren't putting fans needs above them, then they don't need to reveal it to fans. They know how fans will respond; they are choosing the reveal it anyway.
Brenda: But how are they "ruining" their reputation? By being in love and caring about someone? Shouldn't that be an example to the rest of us?
Krow: they're ruining their reputation by REVEALING it, because we can't control how every fan reacts. they'll always be fans who will threaten, or react badly.
Jess: You say that they aren't obligated to reveal it but think of all the sasaeng fans there are. They involve themselves in personal matters and invade the idols' privacy. Even if they decide to keep the relationship a secret, these "fans" will leak it to the public
Krow: reputation isn't created by them, but by fans
Krow: it's also up to the other fans whether or not they will reveal it or not. No matter what, as soon as it's out, their reputation is likely to be damaged.
Jess: Nothing is stopping fans from leaving the fandom. They choose whether or not to support idols and if they decide to ruin the idol's reputation other people can choose whether or not to believe them.
Brenda: I see your point but like what Syd said, they tell us because they want us to know because of how much we care as fans and like Jess said, someone's gonna find out eventually. Isn't it better to come out with the truth than have it told by someone else? Wouldn't that feel like more of a betrayal if someone else told you your best friend (for example) was dating someone?
Krow: hence why it's called a scandal-- the idol's reputation is being damaged, whether it be from fans, anti fans, or saesangs
