sapphire lost her eye years ago when she got jumped by some vampires. my theory is that, waaay before they were married, ruby worked at a diner and sapphire used to come in and visit her. she came by one evening, same as usual, but was spotted by a group of dick vampires sitting at a table who could see that she was a witch (taking again from bh!verse, ‘people like us can recognise people like you. it’s complicated.’) they followed her out and attacked her, could have ended a lot worse if ruby hadn’t run out and obliterated them with fire. 

this may or may not change, but it was what i had in mind when i decided sapphire had lost an eye.
