The thing is... a lot of the misognyny in Kamen Rider Kiva is put in there on purpose as part of the themes of the show, innit? The fact that the men suck is kind of part of the point. You can make a lot of very direct parallels between the condescending and paternalistic way the men in the show treat a lot of the women and the binds of fate that Wataru feels are confining him.

The whole point of the show is that we should question societal rules and norms that tie people down and hold them back in the name of upholding a class system which supposedly protects the society that has these rules and norms. The show simultaneously makes the argument that characters need to take ownership of their lives and choose their own fates rather than meekly letting the tides of society control them or trying to avoid society altogether.

You can see this with Yuri and Megumi's stories quite a bit but it is EXTREMELY obvious in Mio and Maya's stories. They are women who APPEAR to be given great power, but that power actually confines them to a very specific, subservient role. They have very little agency in comparison to all of the other Checkmate Four members. Rook can basically go around doing whatever he wants. Bishop wields a substantial amount of background power and regularly pushes things to go the way he wants and bend others to his will. The Kings of course are the ultimate paternalistic power as they basically get to shape the world and do whatever they want. But the Queen just has to do what she's told. She has to marry the King. She has to have his kid. She has to kill the Fangires who fall in love with humans (maintaining their separation from human society). She doesn't really get to make decisions the way that the other Checkmate Four members do. And it hurts these women. They hate it. They want to make their own decisions. So, while under these systemic forces they end up making some cruel decisions in an effort to seize what they actually want and those decisions hurt the people they care about.

The show expressly calls attention to this violent enforcement of gender roles. Likewise, you have a character like Wataru who is CONSTANTLY being dictated to about his life by parental figures (though, ironically, never by his own actual parents. It's literally everyone else BUT them). Everyone wants to parent this adult man-- even the teen girl he knows from the neighborhood-- and set him on the 'right' path with little regard for what he actually wants.

Now does the show always execute this theme well? No. It is frequently held back and undercut by the uh. Actual real life misogyny of the writers and studio executives.

I'm gonna be so real with you I hope every single man in Kiva except for the Owner of the Cafe dies. Otoya was only the start. None of them are salvageable we just have to get rid of them at this point.

Wataru? I want him gone forever. Nago? I hope he gets a divorce that takes away all of his prospects and he literally dies in a ditch. Taiga? Blown into a million pieces. Jiro? Sealing him in a sword wasn't enough he needs to be erased without a single atom remaining. Shima? Kill him. Kengo? I hope a stage light falls on him.
