Anyone who’s only exposure to Hongo Takeshi is through something like Showa vs Heisei I want you all to know that he’s actually one of the kindest and most gentle riders and that Toei assassinated his character in that movie.
Showa vs Heisei movie: The Showa Riders are tough guys who see kindness as a weakness.
Hongo Takeshi and Ichimonji Hayato, the original Showa Riders:
I don’t like calling Ichimonji Hayato a secondary rider because I just simply think that’s not true. He was the main protagonist for half of Kamen Rider 71 and is just as important as Hongo. It was also his era that helped the show become popular when ratings weren’t doing well initially. He was also the first character to say “Henshin!” And do the pose. Kamen Rider simply wouldn’t be what it is today without him.
Double Riders dynamic (to me) is like
Showa Ichimonji: Me and the bad bitch (Hongo) I pulled by being goofy.
Shin Hongo: Me and the bad bitch (Hayato) I pulled by being nice to him.
