I’ve seen a few people say Daphne “deserves” better than Fred. She deserves to be loved, yes, but I feel like these comments come from a place of interpreting Fred’s “obliviousness” as him not caring, instead of him just not picking up on social cues like a neurotypical person would. Their relationship has not always been very healthy (Mystery Inc) but singling out Fred’s neurodivergent traits as the sole reason low key bothers me. There’s a lack of communication from both, not just him

exactly, people tend to blame fred for their inept romance, when it’s both sides that fuel miscommunication and misunderstanding. anyway, i’ve always felt like blaming fred for being “stupid and not getting daphne’s hints” was so weird because it just felt like picking on neurodivergent traits, especially of the people who don’t mask. like, people often compare fred to other daphne’s potential lovers who almost always end up being creeps and/or betraying her, and it’s not in fred’s favour, like “i can excuse sacrificing daphne to an ancient vampire but i draw a line at displaying autistic traits”
