ah, in that scenario, once the appropriate amount of time has passed, he wanders over to the oven, squints at the cookies, says they "don't look done enough" and "x minutes probably wasn't long enough" and adds another like seven minutes to the timer

I love the anime’s visual style. What bought me over initially were gifs of Hinazuki standing in the park in the snow with her hair and coat flapping.

cheating but I really need to mention it and it kindof ties into the previous: the fact that the anime went out of its way to un-sexualize Kayo (all while making it clear enough what likely happened to her). I remember a specific scene where they reconstruct what muse have happened and there’s some vague white shape (crime-scene outline possibly?) in place of Kayo’s body, to sidestep any possibility of visual gross fetishization. Small but such a good thing.

I… I can’t tell if the culprit was too obvious or not, bc while I called it extremely early, I also thought the whole time that I was crackily dead wrong about it and it was just fun to yell “NOOO DON’T!!! hahaha just imagine” (and Cass who knew was like :) :) the whole time it was awful). Anyway. Having figured it out before the reveal did not in any way atenuate my sheer shock at the reveal. But the plot probably could have used more alternate suspects for us to actually consider.

Bit too many loose ends, with the journalist guy, no explanation of how Satoru got that power, some characters just dropping out of the picture, etc. IDK if that is also an issue in the manga?

(I just can’t quite into the manga’s art style which is a damn shame I know;;;)

Worldbuilding!!! It’s so huge and detailed, and each city and continent has its own character! I should replay DD three more times because there’s so much going on in there that I forgot about, but already with TBS just... discovering each new village was just such a treat.

The narration switching to Felix in the second game is genius, honestly, and the entire string of reveals about why they’re really doing what they’re doing (that the characters already knew about, and only the player didn’t) was a completely unexpected and fantastically administered WHAM.

Still my favorite puzzles, not even Zelda games can compete yet in my heart ;_; Very varied, sometimes complex but not too much, requiring thought and not skill so they were never too frustrating either — not to mention that the Psynergy system itself was very nice to start with!

alex, his relationship with veriti (amiti's mother)

Honestly i… have no idea. I really like @thezolblade‘s headcanons and views of it, such as this post, but that’s not necessarily how I saw it just from playing myself. My impression was that it was an extremely short and intense tryst, possibly a one-night-stand (which is kind of hilarious for/from a princess), possibly not even planned by Alex – I can see it as like, he came to study the Temple and Alchemy Well, sneaked into the palace and approached the princess to get info, was surprised to find out how nerdy and intense about it she was herself, possibly they explored it together, and then giddy passionate “HELL YES WE DISCOVERED COOL STUFF THAT WAS AWESOME” night back at the palace (… or even in the temple, idk how Veriti would feel about that but Alex PROBABLY would get a kick out of that). Alternately, the other way around: they ran into each other at the Temple and Alex only found out after long talks that oh, by the way, I’m not just a town girl or temple maiden, I’m the local princess.

I didn’t feel like Amiti was planned for Alex (Veriti may well have deliberately hoped to get an Adept child.) and I’m not sure he knows of Amiti’s existence, either – although he’ll be able to piece that together very easily if he hears even half of the story. He’ll be very interested (and amused at how Veriti dealt with it).

At any rate Alex definitely felt some level of attraction and affection for Veriti; she was an interesting person to talk to (which he finds rare) and he had a genuine good time. Idk if he thinks about her often, but when he does, it’s fondly.

So this is how I tend to see it, but it’s absolutely not set in stone and I won’t fight anyone about it; Veriti is such a vague character and their relationship is so undefined that there’s a dozen super interesting ways to imagine the whole thing. (Masterplan acolytes is WAY more fun and interesting ofc!)

eoleo/amiti - conversation

After the initial harsh quips, they don’t have one until extremely late in, like, weeks after Eoleo has joined. That is, however, because they both want that conversation to happen but know it’ll be ugly and frustrating. In the end, it happens because the rest of the group decides that this can’t keep going, they can’t have ¼ of the group not even addressing each other ever. So the two of them sit across a table on Eoleo’s ship, arms crossed and linefacing, with Rief between them as … I can’t find the word (if there is one?) for the debate-referee? basically he’s officially The Dude Keeping The Conversation Polite, calling out ad hominem attacks and useless repeats, making sure each of them can speak equally and such. -ETA- MODERATOR IS THE WORD, THANK YOU- Matthew is on the fourth side of the table, as the guy who keeps them sortof calm by way of raising one hand when they’re raising their voices too loud and looking Disappointed And Sad when they get too mean. It works, somewhat, and they manage to reach a “agree to disagree but your points are noted, okay, I can stand being in the same room as you” point (which allows for the rest of the work to be done when they reach Champa and Ayuthay).
