I found a really intriguing article about the new movie Frozen. Be aware though, if you have not seen this movie yet and plan on seeing it soon then I DO NOT advise you to read this article because there are spoilers in it. This article talks about the stereotypical Disney princess that we have all come to know and love, but it also discusses how Frozen is not your typical Disney princess movie. It debunks the idea of love at first sight and that a prince will come to the rescue. It also does away with true love's kiss breaking all spells/curses. The article goes on to say that this movie never shows Anna or Elsa, the princesses of the movie, being rescued by anyone other than themselves. It is gratifying to see that Disney is breaking their own stereotypes and creating a story in which the main girl in the story can be independent and strong opposed to being weak and helpless. Though, let's be real here…it doesn't stray too far from it's stereotypes, because it is still about the lives of pretty princesses. Disney still does a good job in modernizing their stories and breaking their own rules.
