charadesign practice — humanised versions of my friends' and i's keris daggers 🗡✨
The sword* of the day is the kris.
The kris is a weapon from Indonesia, particularly the largest island of Java. It has immense cultural and spiritual significance, so ornately decorated blades like this one are not uncommon. Though it originated in Java, the design traveled throughout Southeast Asia, and many similar blades can be found in the region (such as the Moro kris from the Philippines, which is closer to a sword in size).
*I suppose this is more of a dagger than a sword, but my rules for the sword of the day are that any historical melee weapon is considered a sword.
You're going to battle. Choose your weapon:
Parashu
Bow and Arrow
Spear
Halberd
Quarterstaff
Khopesh
Sharktooth Sword
Zweihander
Slungshot (not to be confused with Slingshot)
Kris Dagger
Healer

A Javanese kris dagger that was presented to George IV, as Prince Regent in 1813. The UK Royal Collection Trust (source link) estimates that the blade is possibly 17th century.
Marryat spells the name of this unique weapon phonetically as "creese" and it shows up in the hands of enemy privateers in The King's Own in a battle in the Straits of Sumatra. HMS Aspasia engages with a proa commanded by the pirates— which could refer to any native Southeast Asian vessel, when used by a European like Marryat in this time period. It has a low gunwale and a deck made of bamboo lashed together, and when the English sailors try to board her the pirates inside the proa stab them with kris daggers inserted in the spaces between stalks of bamboo.
It was soon decided that it would be the extreme of folly to attack such desperate people below, where they would have a great advantage with their creeses over the cutlasses of the seamen; and as there appeared no chance of inducing them to come up, it was determined to cut the cables and tow the vessel alongside of the frigate who could sink her with a broadside.
The pirates set their own ship on fire before this can happen, and Lieutenant Courtenay is stabbed with a kris when he attempts to rescue a survivor.
Courtenay leaned over the gunwale to haul him in; the malignant wretch grasped him by the collar with his left hand, and with his right darted his creese into Courtenay's breast; then, as if satisfied, with an air of mingled defiance and derision, immediately sank under the bottom of the pinnace, and was seen no more. “Ungrateful viper!" murmured Courtenay, as he fell into the arms of his men.
Marryat adds that "The creeses of the pirates had been steeped in the juice of the pineapple, which, when fresh applied, is considered as a deadly poison." I'm not sure if he sincerely believed that pineapple juice was poisonous, but it sounds like it would definitely make wounds more painful between the acidity and bromelain.
So i remember a post that once brought up that kris’s knife:
Might just be a “Kris dagger”
I wanted to do more research, I was thinking it was going to be a gardening knife because of the “Worn Dagger” found in Chara’s room.

But! Even though it isn’t! (at least from what i researched) I did find some interesting stuff about it! Some which, might even be significant.

Keris has been produced in many regions of Indonesia for centuries, the kris is so embedded in a mutually connected whole of ritual prescriptions and acts, ceremonies, mythical backgrounds, and epic poetry as in Central Java. As a result, in Indonesia, the kris is commonly associated with Javanese culture, although other ethnicities are familiar with the weapon as parts of their culture, such as the Balinese, Malays, Sundanese, Madurese, Banjar, Bugis, and Makassar. Today, kris is considered a cultural masterpiece of Indonesia.
