Found this just sitting on my notes app, completely forgotten, the poor thing.
It took me like 5 hours to edit because I just kept going over the same paragraphs over and over again. I'm still not good at writing love confessions, but I tried my best!
Katsuki Bakugou has a problem.
Said problem has a name—Izuku Midoriya.
Katsuki's losing sleep because of it. Because he can't take the other out of his mind.
He has realized his feelings three weeks ago, and hasn't been able to sleep peacefully ever since.
Every night he tries something different to help him fall asleep, and every night he just ends up lying on his bed, staring at the ceiling, unable to get that stupid freckled face out of his head.
It's exhausting, and Katsuki's tiredness is starting to impact his performance in both school and training.
It's ten PM now—much later than the blonde's usual bed time—and the methods he tried today didn't work. The lack of sleep is driving him crazy. He tosses and turns on his bed, he tries to count sheep, drinks a calming tea, hell, he even tries to meditate! But every time he closes his eyes to sleep, he just can't. His brain has been working overtime ever since he realized that he had fallen for the other, and now, he couldn't stop thinking about his smile, his eyes, his freckles, his dimples... Ugh, this was not gonna work. He needed to do something effective, something that would give his mind peace. But what? What was he supposed to do? What did his subconcious mind want so bad, it didn't even let him sleep?
Confess.
The sudden thought hit him like a truck. He needed to confess to make peace with himself?
He didn't know if it was going to work, but he was willing to do anything to get to sleep again.
He got out of his room and started making his way towards Izuku's. The other would most likely still be up at this hour, so Katsuki didnt worry about the possibility of waking him up when he knocked at his door at 10:30 PM.
Izuku opened the door, his expression shifting to surprise as he took in the person in front of him. "Kacchan? What brings you here so late?"
Katsuki took a deep breath. It was either now or never. There was no going back now. "I need to tell you something."
Izuku's eyes widened, confusion growing on his face. He steps aside to let Katsuki in nonetheless, watching the blonde stalk to his bed and sitting down. Izuku closes the door behind him and takes a sit next to the other.
Izuku's room no longer looked like the AllMight shryne it was on their first year. Now he had actual normal bedsheets, and his walls werent as covered in posters. His action figure display had also decreased in size considerably.
"So," Izuku starts, looking at Katsuki worriedlly. "What did you need to tell me?"
Ruby eyes lock with emerald. The blonde can feel the stress radiating from Izuku. The boy is looking at him with such preoccupation, his eyes wide and full of concern and so, so pretty. Gosh, Katsuki wondered why he took so long to realize he was in love with him.
Katsuki takes a deep breath, looking down at his kap. He needs to confess. Not only to get to sleep again, but because Izuku has the right to know. Katsuki's eyes travel back up to lock with Izuku's piercing gaze once again and, with all the courage he can muster, he says, "Izuku, I'm in love with you. You're all I can think of and it's messing with my sleep because every time I close my eyes I see you, and my body refuses to let me rest. It's driving me crazy."
Izuku freezes, absolutely speechless. His eyes wide, he blinked once, twice, trying to make sense of what had just been said to him. He opens his mouth to talk, tries to say something, anything, but the words just won't come out.
Katsuki takes that as him being uncomfortable, so he continues, "look, I didn't tell you this hoping you would reciprocate my feelings or whatever. We're finally friends again, and I wouldn't trade your friendship for anything else in this world.
Izuku's blinks. "Kacchan, wait—"
Katsuki keeps going, "I'm thankful that you forgave me and gave me the chance to be friends with you again. I'm trying to forgive myself for everything i've done to you, and I'm gonna spend the rest of my life proving that I've changed and am not that stupid brat anymore."
"Kacchan!"
"Me having feelings for you is just another obstacle we'll have to get around. We've dealt with worse. You just need to pretend everything is normal, while I try to ignore the fact that I want to kiss you everytime I look at your stupid fucking face—"
"KACCHAN!"
"WHAT?"
"I love you, too."
Katsuki's eyes widen. Now's his turn to be speechless. "What?"
Izuku flashes him one of those smiles that make Katsuki melt on the inside, sweet and gentle. "I'm in love with you, too, Kacchan." He says again, covering one of Katsuki's hands with his own. "I fell a long time ago, when we were little, I thought that the feeling had gone away when you... You know... But I guess it didn't really go anywhere, because even after that, I still found myself thinking about you all the time. Still found myself feeling giddy whenever you smiled, and grow jealous of your friends for getting to spend so much time with you." Izuku paused for a moment, but Katsuki didn't speak, he couldn't. His throat was dry and he felt that if he opened his mouth, the only thing that would come out would be a pathetic little sob. "Kacchan," Izuku continued, viridian eyes still locked on, now watery, crimson ones, "there isn't a day that passes where I don't fall in love with you again. My heart throbs and flips every time our skin touches, and my face turns red every time you say my name. You drive me crazy, Kacchan, always on my mind, making me giggle and kick my feet like a middle-schooler. It drives me absolutely crazy, but I can't imagine living without it."
Katsuki, still trying to process the information, blinks at the other. "You're what?" His voice is small, almost shy.
"I love you, Kacchan." Izuku says firmly. "In every way, shape, or form imaginable. I want to kiss you good morning every day, hold hands when we go out, cuddle you until I fall asleep every night. I love you when you smile, cry, shout, whisper... I love you with all my heart, and I want you to be mine, if you let me be yours."
"You... Love me?" Katsuki chokes out. "Why? After everything I've done to you... I... Don't deserve it." He looks down at his lap, avoiding eye contact.
Izuku frowns. "Nonsense! After all you've changed, after all you've done to redeem yourself..." He squeezes Katsuki's hand, causing the blonde to look up and meet his gaze again. "Don't say you don't deserve my love when you're the one who deserves it the most." Izuku says, his tone soothing and his eyes gentle. When Katsuki doesn't speak, Izuku brushes his thumb across his cheekbone, his lips curving slightly upwards in a tender smile. "Sleep here with me tonight, okay?"
Katsuki nods and Izuku kisses his forehead. "We'll talk about this tomorrow, all right? Let's get some rest."
That night, Katsuki is able to sleep peacefully, surrounded by the warmth of the one he loves more than anything.
Bonus:
The next morning, Katsuki wakes up to Izuku playing with his hair. He groans and stretches, startling the other boy.
"Good morning, Kacchan. Did you sleep well?" He asks, and holy shit, Katsuki's heart flipps so hard he almost has to squeeze his chest to make sure it stays in place. Izuku's hair is messy, his voice raspy and the sunlight was hitting his skin just right, making him look almost angelic. Despite sleep still clinging to his face, he was looking at the blonde with gentle eyes.
"I did." He answers, brushing a couple stray curls off of the other's forehead. "Thank you for letting me sleep here."
Izuku smiles. "I'm glad." They look into each other's eyes for another moment before Izuku speaks up again. "So, about yesterday..."
Katsuki sits up. "I confessed." He recalls, his cheeks turning pink. "And you confessed too. So... What does that make us?" He asks, not even trying to mask the hope present in his voice.
"I want to be your boyfriend, Kacchan." Izuku says, deadpan.
Katsuki nods. "I want to be your boyfriend, too."
"So I guess we're dating now." Izuku says with a pleased smile, one of those contagious ones that made Katsuki's stomach fill with butterflies.
"Can I kiss you?"
"Please."
Katsuki cups Izuku's cheek and leans in to softly press their lips together. The kiss is so gentle it melts Izuku's heart into a warm goo that pools at every crevice of his insides. (Whoa)
When they pull away, they're both blushing and smiling like idiots. Because, well, yeah, they are. Two big, dumb idiots who love each other more than anything in the world.
Katsuki wraps his arms around Izuku, resting his face on the other's shoulder. Izuku does the same, and soon they're laying down again in a big mess of limbs.
"Hey, Izuku..." Katsuki whispers, his voice so small and quiet Izuku would've missed it if they weren't so close.
"What is it, Kacchan?" He asks, pulling away so they were face to face.
"I love you." The blonde says quietly, averting his gaze in an attempt to hide the blush creeping up his cheeks.
Izuku's heart throbs in his chest and a huge smile grows on his face. He squeezes Katsuki's face with both hands before peppering kisses all over the other's cheeks, nose and forehead. Katsuki giggles and grabs Izuku's wrists. "Stop that! What the hell?!" He complains, still laughing.
"You're giving me cute aggression, Kacchan, I just wanna bite you!" Izuku chuckles.
"WHAT?! CUTE? I'M NOT CUTE YOU FUCKING NERD!" Katsuki screeches, turning so red he looks like he could combust any moment now.
Izuku just chuckles and wraps his arms around the blonde once again. "Whatever you say, Kacchan." Then, a bit quieter, "and I love you, too."
