SOULMATE AU where each person has a magical animal companion linked to their soulmate. This companion will mirror the soulmate's personality and mood!

Kenma let ou a sigh when he felt a familiar paw against his knee, quickly pausing his game to look down at the black cat meowing for his attention.

"Do you want attention, Eiji?" Kenma asked with the softest of smiles. The cat meowed again, happily rubbing his face on his human's leg.

"Ok, you got my attention, what does Kuroo want?"

Eiji's ears perked up and the cat suddenly jumped to the floor, trotting in the direction of the door before turning back and letting out one of those crunchy meows, his tail lazily swaying at it's upright position.

When Kenma didn't move, Eiji, pawed at the door again, lightly scratching the floor, as if demanding to be followed.

"Does Kuroo think I've been gaming for too long?"

The cat meowed again, rubbing his body against the door frame.

"Ok ok, I'll be there in a moment, let me just finish this game.

"Neiiiiiiiii, come here!" Kuroo whined, picking up the little calico cat from where it was playing with a toy mouse. "Give me some attention pleaaaase!!!" Why are you ignoring me?!"

The cat struggled in his grasp, putting a paw to his mouth as Kuroo tried to give him some forehead kisses.

"Please, soulmate magic, transmit my love to Kenma!" Kuroo prayed dramatically as he cuddled Nei close to his heart. The cat stopped trying to get away, nuzzling into his touch before stoping another wave of kisses with its paw, meowing lowly in protest.

Suddenly, the door to his room was slammed opened and Kenma entered the space with Eiji on his shoulders, half covering his face with his tail as he nuzzled against the side of kenma's head.

The younger man had an annoyed look on his face, but his hand was helping keep Eiji balanced in place.

"How many times do I have to ask you not to bother Nei so much??? If you miss me you cam text me like normal people!"

"Well... Where's the fun on that??" Kuroo replied, carefully letting go of Nei to throw his arms around his boyfriend and soulmate instead.
