happy valentines day to them only
She never really minded how hard he found it to kiss her.
It was almost endearing how much he would struggle to hold her comfortably, how he was afraid of doing something that would push her limits when he had barely done anything at all, how he would sometimes just take the time to breathe her very scent in, burying his nose into the crook of her neck or her hair or the place between her shoulder blades...
When it came to that, she could feel him tremble against her.
Sometimes it was in amazement. He would murmur so softly she could not understand him until he repeated his question. Would it be alright to kiss her right now? Her answer was always affirmative, but the more he asked, the more curt her tone. He never flinched back from that tone, though, always waiting to be sure that he could hold her and love her and feel her. He would proceed almost shyly, skating his mouth gently across the contours of her body, from her forehead to beneath her jaw, or the crook of her elbow or the gentle slope of her midriff. His teeth left trails of fire across her skin, but she did not protest, only wound her fingers more tightly in his hair.
Sometimes it was hungrier than that. He would shake from head to toe in brief bursts of shivers from the start of the kisses, and she learned to understand what it meant. His lips would part while still a hair's breadth from her skin, and hot breaths would stimulate her skin. She held her breath every time as his fangs began to rake her skin gently, tingling, exciting her. Light gnawing, jerkily gentle, would caress her shoulder, or delicate nibbling her fingertips, but all the while, he would not, could not completely repress the instinct to bite down.
She was never afraid, though. Not even when he quietly whimpered in the back of his throat hungrily, or groaned with such reluctance that it seemed he wanted anything but to make a sound, or when his hands twisted the fabric of his cape up in his trembling fists. There was never a thing to fear so long as he fought it, and could judge how hard it might be.
She never really minded how hard he found it to kiss her.
