[prompt] mika comes out to young itachi as a member of PLA (plant lovers anonymous)
“Itachi-kun.” Mika looked over to their friend pensively, there was something that needed to be said. Would he think they were weird for…lusting after an aloe vera plant? It was bizarre and unnatural, yet Mika wasn’t alone. They’d recently joined a rehab group that dealt with such problems.
Itachi returned the gaze, his own expression one of mild interest. He was in for a shock. “Mika-san?” They seemed uncomfortable and Itachi knew his friend could be…dramatic at times. The long pauses were laying it on a bit thick, though.
“Um, I, I need to tell you about something.” God it was too embarrassing. Mika suddenly felt their face heat up and words failed them. So instead the teen rifled through their bag and pulled out a wrinkled pamphlet. Itachi took the paper, his expression remaining flat until he read the bold lettering on top.
‘PLANT LOVERS ANONYMOUS’ it stated quite loudly in green outlining. His eyebrows rose slightly and with great confusion he stared at Mika. What was this about?
“S-so uh, I’m in this group.” Mika motioned vaguely to the paper, they couldn’t meet Itachi’s eyes. This was literally the most awkward thing to come out about. “I’m getting help for, well, I sometimes get this weird urge when–” Oh god they couldn’t say it. Mika just sighed and hid their face behind their hands.
“I tried fucking a plant okay? I don’t know why I just– it looked so good and I–”
Okay, Itachi heard enough of that. “Mika-san.” He could spare his friend further humiliation with a reassuring gesture. A light pat on the shoulder. “It’s good that you’re seeking help for this? Ah, I only hope you didn’t hurt yourself.” That was the weirdest and most disturbing thing he’d heard in a while. “You should keep this, I think.” He handed the pamphlet back and stood up. “I have to go, father is expecting me.”
So he left a flustered Mika behind. Itachi decided then that his new bonsai tree was to be kept safely out of Mika’s reach. Just in case.
