Sea of Stars: Interlude Part 3
A single father and the turbulent sea
A single whimper from the 6-month-old in the blanket diverted Krystallos' attention from Starseidon. "Hungry, my snow angel?" The titan asked softly to the baby in his arms, Frostine...A hybrid between a human and a titan, who is nibbling on one of his fingernails.
"Star, could you be a dear and watch her until I get back?" The Ice King spoke his question to Starseidon...Breaking the Sea God of his doki doki-like state.
"Wait, where are you going, Hon?" The confusion on Starsiedon's face was unmistakable...The last part caused both men to look at each other, freezing in place and blush...But the unintended pouting Starseidon was doing was very cute in the eyes of the titan before the Sea God.
"Just getting food for this little one," Krystallos answered with a gentleness akin to the first snowfall, getting up from the floor and silently walking towards the door, holding the 6-month-old infant who was still nibbling the claw-like nail of her papa. This gave Starseidon a good look at the child in the arms of the titan. "She's tinier than I expected." Starseidon pointed out as Krystallos joined him in the hallway.
"Well, she is a hybrid and only 6 months old," Krystallos answered with a chuckling smile as the tsundere Sea God rolled his eyes, as a way of saying that he already knew that.
The baby, on the other hand, looked at Starseidon and just stared into his eyes...Causing him to stare back in confusion. Krystallos couldn't help but bust out laughing softly at what was happening.
"She's trying to intimidate you, Star." The titan chuckled with amusement before gently kissing the infant on the top of her head.
"She looks too cute to intimidate...Like Luna." The Sea God snorted softly before gazing at the infant. "Though...She kind of looks like Koios...Her eyes, I mean."
"True...But what does it matter? He'll never meet his granddaughter anyway." Krystallos sighed before silence stretched out between the two immortals. In an attempt to break the awkwardness the silence has brought, Starseidon asks a question, one that he didn't know would be a sensitive topic for the Ice King.
"Where's her mother?" The Sea God asked gently.
Hearing this, Krystallos's eyes moisten, recalling the memories welling up inside his heart. And yet, he gave the answer that still haunts the titan till this day. "Her mother..." He paused as he looked down at the infant he shakily exhaled. Trying to hide his deep sorrow. "She passed away...After Frostine was created through a ritual that required the blood of both partakers." The titan then looked at his forearm, pulling up robe robe-like sleeve on his toga that he is currently wearing to reveal a slight horizontal knife scar that reached from his wrist to the edge of his forearm (He is very modest for a titan..Don't judge him >:^.).
"The worst part was that I loved her too late." The Ice King's voice began to crack as tears began to fall from his glacial eyes. Signifying how much that mortal woman meant something to the titan in front of Starseidon.
"So you're a..." Starseidon asked before stopping...He looked at Krystallos closely and then at the infant in the titan's arms. "Single Father." Krystallos nodded when the Sea God finished his sentence.
"And when you are a single father, your needs mean nothing. As your child comes first." The Titan sighed, drying the corner of his eyes with his left hand while holding his daughter with his right arm. "I gave up on dating compleatly. Frostine needs me more then a lack of love life."
Starseidon, being a god who had many flings with mortals, couldn't comprehend the fact that Krystallos. A titan of Frost who is currently going through the worst heats would rather care for his daughter made out of a blood ritual than have his needs met. It baffled the Sea God, but also gave him a sense of what Krystallos' true personality was. "Sacrificing your needs for your daughter," Starseidon said, looking at the infant who began to squirm in her father's arm...Already getting fussy from the lack of food. "You must be stupid or have the biggest willpower in the world to do that...I'll say both," Starseidon said bluntly, but it held hidden affection within the tone, and he wiped away the tears of the Ice King with his hands.
Not wasting time, Starseidon called for a servant of the palace to quickly get something for Krystallos's infant, Frostine, to eat (Being an experienced father helps in times like this), as Krystallos instantly took off his toga, leaving the loincloth on, and placed her near his chest to calm her down.
"Thank you for the help, Star, but I can handle..." Krystallos was cut off with a quick peck on the lips from the Sea God...Blinking with blush forming before he could finish his sentence. "Ummm? Is that you saying that you want to help me raise Frostine or take care of us?" As the servant came back with food for a 6-month-old infant, Krystallos heard the words that made him blush like a madman. "After you're done taking care of your daughter..." The Sea God whispered into the ear of the titan, before pausing. "I'm taking care of you."
To be continued~
The truth about the infant's origins has come to light, a painful truth, but also one that holds hope (even though Krystallos can be too self-sacrificing and more focused on caring for his daughter at times). What could Starseidon be planning? And how long does it take him to get impatient, O.O?
