What caused the break up between Aradia and Equius in kinstuck?

they just…weren’t a good couple, they didn’t have much in common, and they didn’t treat eachother well. Equius was kind of unintentionally a possessive, entitled jerk thanks to a very pampered upbringing, also he had a LOT of repression, self-loathing and confusion on his part which manifested into projecting antiquated ideas of men v. women onto Aradia and their relationship. Aradia was pretty angry because of her mom’s recent death, and often purposefully antagonistic, cruel or cold to Equius because of it. It really was just doomed from the start :.

since it seems like it's alright to ask, can you tell me about hal? he's one of my favs and since he's not usually included in things i was really happy to see he'd be in kinstuck!

I’ve written a bit about him before

Expounding upon all that though. He’s 20, a college Junior studying Psychology, though he’s considering re-routing and becoming a Psychiatrist instead. He’s very inscrutable and people have a hard time figuring him out. He likes old sci-fi movies, chess, bodybuilding, martial arts, meditation and computers. He’s a certifiable genius, and has a dry, teasing sense of humor that can be hard to deal with for most people.

He starts dating Equius when they become roomates in Equius’s freshman year, and they become that couple that’s waaaay too into eachother for anyone’s comfort.

hey there! could i have some background on equius zahak's sexuality, relationships and maybe some info on his past, perhaps during his teens? thanks!

Equius is Bi, he’s primarily attracted to dominant people who don’t care about what people think of them. He dates Aradia in grade 11 for a year before she breaks it off, and In freshman year of College he dates Hal Strider, he also has an unrequited crush on Gamzee for most of highschool.

In his youth he was pretty friendless, people thought he was weird (and he is, admittedly) but then he became friends with Nepeta in Jr. High and gradually gained more friends as time went on.

He’s a vegetarian, a UFC and WWE fan, a robotics enthusiast (specifically “Robot Wars” style combat robots), a lover of spoken word poetry, heavy metal and classical music, a die hard equestrian and an admirer and collector of fine art, though he himself cannot paint. He has Hyperhidrosis, anger management issues and is generally socially awkward and ignorant because of his sheltered upbringing… he means well though.

So does this also translate to ARquiusprite? On that note, how does AR fit in this universe?

AR (or "Hal") is a Strider brother, He's older than Dave but younger than Dirk. He's a psychology student who's passive aggressive, brilliant and more than a bit conniving.

AR and Equius are also roomates at Uni, yes. They end up getting along a bit too well for everyone comfort especially any dormies who have the misfortune of hearing just how well they get along through the dorms paper-thin walls heh...

If you haven't answered this, is the background for the Zahaaks in Kinstuck? Second question, if you don't mind, why did you name it Kinstuck? (PS that pic you drew of Jr High Nepeta braiding Equius's hair is adorable, Equius is my patron troll and i don't see many cute drawings of him very often, that made my day and it was just awesome, your blog is just awesome, you're just awesome thank you so much for being yourself)

The Zahhaks are First Nations, Lakota. “Kin” is another word for Family/Relations. Thank you very much (Equius is my favorite troll too). :>

Are you a big goth dork who doesn’t know how to interact with people like a normal human being?

because if so, then yes you are, and so am I.

is kinstuck equius a brony? does he wear fedoras?

Bronies do not exist in Kinstuck because they make me sad (though if they were a thing he totally would be one).

Still, he is a little too into horses for everyone’s comfort. His family owns stables and he always got along better with horses than people. (He’s not as bad as Horuss though, haha)

What's the relationship between Equius and Nepeta? How did they become morials in kinstuck?

Well, moirallegiance isn’t a thing in Kinstuck but they are best friends. :)

In Elementary school Equius knew the other highblood kids, and Vriska was his neighbor, but he didn’t have any real friends. For the first year of Jr. High (he’s a year older than Nep and a grade above her) it was the same, kids avoided him because he was kind of huge and weird, he hit puberty early and was a foot taller than all the other kids and had a sweating problem, he was also not very well socialized and didn’t smile or come off as approachable so a lot of kids were afraid of him.

By the time Nepeta started Jr. High, she was pretty lonely herself. Her mom had just remarried, her sister had a new boyfriend, and she didn’t really have anyone to hang out with, she would try to hang out with the other lowblood kids but most of them were older than her and they all got along better with each other than with her. She was scared about her first day of Jr. High, so her mom advised her to find someone at school that looked lonelier than she felt, and reach out to them.

At lunch she saw Equius sitting alone, and other kids had already warned her about him so she was a little afraid, but she remembered her mom’s advice, sat down at his table, and struck up a conversation. She discovered that yeah, he was a little weird, but also really smart and good-hearted and was actually pretty interesting to talk to. This led to them eating lunch every day with eachother and hanging out after school too and they quickly became best friends. It stayed that way all through highschool (and the rest of their lives, actually). They often have differing opinions and can be quite sassy and blunt with each other, but they value and love each other dearly and wouldn’t trade their friendship for anything.

Eventually they both made other friends, (more so in Nepeta’s case than Equius’s) but they’re still #1 BFFs.
