How does alcoholism factor into the Kinstuck Lalondes' lives?
Roxanne “Mom” Lalonde is a high functioning alcoholic who has been drinking daily since her 20′s (she’ll have about half a bottle of wine a day) and continues throughout her entire life, he’s a very brilliant and successful woman and she rarely get noticeably drunk, so she doesn't take her families concerns seriously when they've confronted her on it.
Unfortunately, through a combination of influence and genetics, Rose and Roxy also struggle with alcoholism to varying degrees. Roxy mostly develops a drinking problem in highschool and has to end up repeating a grade because of how much her partying affected her schoolwork, but after high-school she gets sober and never drinks again.
Rose’s situation is more complicated, she starts drinking in her mid twenties, and from then on it’s a very off and on thing her whole life. It’s a lot harder for her to quit and stay sober permanently, and though she manages to stay sober for many years at a time, she also has many relapses throughout her life.
