➠ What Goes Bump In The Night

Okay, he never meant to stay out this late, he just lost track of time. That did tend to happen and before he knew it, it was pushing 2 in the morning. It was just another of those days, he had been busy doing multiple assignments, both his and other peoples and next thing he knew it was almost three in the morning. No wonder he was struggling to keep his eyes open. In the end, he decided to call it a night and head back to his dorm room to try and get some sleep.

Bag slung over his shoulder, Dae was as quite as possible as he tiptoed to his dorm room, pretty sure that his roommate was asleep by now. He often came back late and he was quite adept at getting into bed without waking the guy up. He was quiet as he opened up the door, softly closing it behind him. 

Not turning the light on did make things harder, but he was quite sure he could make it to his bed without making a noise. However, he had been mistaken as his foot caught on the corner of something, and with a surprised yelp, he went falling over face first to the ground, landing with a rather loud thud. So much for not making a noise and not waking Jaesuk up.

He was an emotional wreck but he wouldn’t show it. He wasn’t good at showing anyone anything really. That’s why alcohol was good for him. It made things easier, and it made him happier. It probably wasn’t the best medicine, but it wasn’t like he was a total alcoholic. A few drinks now and then helped soothe his mind and heart.

Having someone there also helped as well. It was nice to have someone to make sure he made it back to his room okay, too. Jaesuk seemed like a nice companion, considering they were together a lot for practice anyways, and had to work together well enough to lead their team. He was often looking to Jaesuk for support and leadership for swimming, so maybe it wasn’t far off to look to him for some sort of support here either. Wordless support of course, because there was no way he would tell Jaesuk what was wrong. Not while sober at least.

That state of mind didn’t last long, the sober part anyways. Rue was soon smiling and laughing much more than usual. It was almost a strange sight. He looked a little younger when he looked happy, a little cuter with his small face and somewhat feminine features, lit up with a crooked and toothy smile. It was not the same Rue who sat off to the side with a scowl and tired eyes. Maybe when he was drunk, he didn’t have to worry about life so much, and he could go back to when he was a kid, before everything went wrong with him.

He’d snuck into the pool with Jaesuk, since it wasn’t exactly open for anyone this late usually. He grabbed the younger male’s wrist and pulled him toward the edge of of the pool, where he kicked off his shoes and socks and sat down, dipping his feet in the water. “So, I mean, do you like it here?” The question was sudden, having nothing to do with any previous conversation. “I mean, do you like it here at Keisung? Sounds like you like the people.” There was a sly smile on his face when he eyes Jaesuk out of the corner of his eye. His reference was rather obvious, hinting at Jaesuk’s personal and sexual life. “But do you like being here?”

“This is officially the dumbest decision we’ve ever made.”

That was the first thing out of Ryosuke’s mouth the second they got off from the cab. He gripped the straps of his back pack as he stared at the ominous location they were currently in. Ryosuke and Jaesuk had joked about going out and spending the night at a haunted area for shits and giggles—he never realised the artist would take it seriously. But even if he knew how stupid the idea was, the jock didn’t know why he agreed to come; if anything, the fault also fell to him.

So now they were here in Yongma Land, an abandoned amusement park just outside of Seoul. “Jae-chan, seriously, this is dumb. Let’s just go back,” he pleaded the senior, desperate to go back to where they came from. Living in Japan his whole life, Ryosuke wasn’t new to the concept of ghosts, demons, and magical creatures interacting with the living. He knew some people found it ridiculous to believe in ghosts, but Ryosuke didn’t care—the jock knew they were real and no one could convince him otherwise. “If you pull shit on me, I swear to god I’m calling Joonie.”
