Why are your eyes so bloodshot?

haneul instantly covers her eyes when jinwoo had pointed it out, partly ashamed of the reason behind it. she didn’t mean to binge-watch a drama all day but it was their winter break and she didn’t have anything to do other than that (and also to stuff her mouth with unhealthy snacks). she gives in, anyway - finally facing him as she crosses her legs over one another, a chuckle escaping her lips first before explaining herself. “well yeah, i watched this show and it had me in a roller coaster kind of emotions. i mean the girl heroine was too attached to the supposed prince charming but turns out? he was just playing her and well, in the end she just became part of the noble idiocy trope of watching the person she loves be happy with someone else. it sucks so bad and and i hate it.” haneul finally catches her breath, looking at him with an impassive expression. “i mean, how would you feel if someone betrayed you like that?”

xiaolu’s pencil runs lightly over the sheet of paper, the sound of scrapping lead echoing in her small pocket of space behind the aisle. she was sitting cross-legged on the floor, the only thoughts occupying her pony-tailed head being white noise coming through her earphones. she’d already finished the homework given to her by one of the jocks---one that she didn’t know the name of. usually these things would end with a bribe being given as payment, but he had demonstrated just how much of a pushover xiaolu was made out to be. 

that’s how she came to sit there, feeling slightly dejected. a good pick-me-up would sound like the best thing right about now... 

   ‘ mm? ‘ with her head down, she almost missed the coffee cup coming into her field of vision. she took out an earphone and peered upwards at the stranger. when she saw who offered her the beverage, her lips immediately grew into a big smile. 

   ‘ jinwoo-ah, thank you - you’re a lifesaver. ‘ 

xiaolu had gotten to know jinwoo through classes they’ve shared, and found herself wondering why she initially grouped him with all the other jocks she’s had the displeasure of knowing. he was one of the people that acted nothing but nice to her, and she really needed that, seeing as how the first few days of starting at keisung made her think she was invisible to most. 

   ‘ oh, you had practise today, right? how was it? ‘ she asked, taking the cup, ‘ the weather’s getting hot lately. . . i’d never be able to stay out in the sun for more than a minute if i was doing sports. ‘

To be honest, Eunhwan never thought that he would be a very good tutor. But, when the leader of the jocks of all people needed help with maths, then Eunhwan felt like he was more than capable. Besides, it couldn’t hurt and would give him extra practice as well, so really it was a win-win situation for both parties involved. 

Eunhwan had demanded that they study in the library, mostly because it would require him not having to walk for miles as he practically lived in the library anyway, and secondly because it was quiet. So he found himself sitting at one of the tables while he waited for Jinwoo to arrive for their scheduled session. A couple of books were spread out on the table, adjusting his glasses a little as he read through one of his Biochemistry textbooks to get in a little extra studying. 

He had no idea how much timed had passed before he heard the sound of footsteps approaching, glancing up from the pages to smile at the older male. “What kept you?” He asked, though not really in a accusing way, “Something sporty, I imagine.”
