ksxhyuksoo:
He stopped in front of her, unsure how to broach the topic—a first for Hyuksoo. Xiaolu was a sweet girl and he was not, but he wasn’t sure how deep her friendship with Ryosuke was. He wasn’t even sure if the Japanese told her anything about him, but he was hinging on the belief that he hasn’t yet, considering she still entertained him.
He gave her a smile, if only to reassure her that he wasn’t about to ask her to do anything difficult (when he actually was). “I…need your help. With Ryosuke,” he told her softly. He was determined to fix his relationship with the Japanese male, and he was going to get all the help he needed. “Has he said anything? About us? And our past?”
But first, he needed to make sure Xiaolu didn’t know any other details about his relationship with Ryosuke.
xiaolu was surprised to hear hyuksoo mention anything about ryosuke, much less considering the fact she didn’t know they were friends. or had been, judging from his tone. her brows slowly knitted together, unsure of what kind of past kyuksoo was referring to.
‘no --- well, this is the first time i’m hearing about it.’ she said, deliberating. ‘... are you sure i’m the right person to help you?’ xiaolu wasn’t confident she would be all that useful since most of her advice came from listening to others, and not really herself.

sangjunks:
knowing the timid and nervous nature of xiaolu, he figured that she wouldn’t be all that psyched about his idea of sneaking into a lecture hall, but he also knew that he had the power to convince her to go along with his plans. sangjun pouted a bit at her, using his “cuteness” to try and push her towards accepting the idea and putting it into action with him.
“c’mon. it’s been a while since we did something fun like that! and it’s after hours, barely anyone but students are in those halls and they never pay attention to anybody but themselves.” he reached over to pull her notebook and pencils towards him, taking all of her resources away from her. “if you refuse, you’re not getting any of these back.”
‘---yah, yah!’ and here he goes again, with the whining. xiaolu, exasperated, leaned back and crossed her arms. there was a strand of hair in her face which she tucked behind her ear in an annoyed manner. ‘oh, alright, fine. but i’ll tell then it was your idea, okay?’ she really wasn’t on boat with the sneaking, and still with sangjun using his “cuteness” to try and convince her that his idea was perfect, that fear of hers was still programmed inside her skull.
immediately, she made a “face” at him, one she always did when something he’d said didn’t quite mesh well with her own morals. she sat up, leaning forward once again, and tried to stretch her arms across the coffee table, grabbing at her notebook and pencils. ‘now give those back to me. i need them for studying, you know.’
ksnari:
@ksxiaolu
The brainiac leader looks at her best friend with hesitance, she isn’t sure how to talk to the other about why she’s been disappearing, why there are bruises in random places on her body, why she smells alcohol. In all honesty Nari doesn’t want to explain, it’s too difficult & it hurts too much. Having not seen Xiaolu in what feels like forever, Nari sits across from the girl and pulls a tight smile, gripping her coffee for dear life. “So, how’ve you been? It feels like forever since we last talked….”
xiaolu regards the other girl with concern. she notices things on her body that she couldn’t explain by herself, or why her heart was telling her there was something very, very wrong with nari. she didn’t have a single clue what was going on with the brainiac, or why it had taken then ages to finally get together and talk. and quite frankly, xiaolu was past being worried for her best friend.
‘nari,’ she begins, moving closer to her. ‘i’ve been worried about you. you don’t seem like yourself. are you okay?’
ksxhyuksoo:
Hyuksoo supposes he should be thankful that Ryosuke never actually cared about the clique system. It made his life a bit easier and his heart lighter to see him laughing and smiling about with just about anyone, although the same thing also made his smile bitter. But it’s almost been a year since they last talked, and with both of them already juniors, Hyuksoo decided that this couldn’t go on for too long. They needed to talk.
But the problem was that Ryosuke was avoiding him, and Hyuksoo didn’t really know how to approach him without scaring him off. He remembered him always hanging out with that fame chaser freshman, and initially decided to ask for her help, but also thought that Ryosuke might have told her something and she might reject him flat out. Nari was also out of question. And it was then that he remembered their second-in-command.
He saw them once at the bleachers, both surprised and jealous at what was happening. He never realised that they talked to each other, and was actually jealous of the sophomore talking to his ex. And so, he deemed her the perfect candidate to help him talk to Ryosuke again. He sought her out and waited for her last class to end. When she finally appeared, he immediately approached her. “Xiaolu! I have a favor to ask of you.”
{ @ksxiaolu }
xiaolu had been taking unofficial japanese language with ryosuke, so much so she had brought an extra notebook to motivate herself to go over the words she was taught one by one during her freetime. they were usually written down with pronunciation next to them, reminding her of the points in which she needed to stress whilst saying the particular word. some words flowed smoothly when she said it, and others needed special attention.
after finishing up another one of her lesson with ryo, she had taken her special notebook and secretly studied in science class, unbeknownst to the teacher. the class ended and afterwards xiaolu heard someone call out to her while she was on her way to her locker in order to gather her books for more studying in the library.
‘hyuksoo, hello.’ the brainiac nodded at him, smiling politely. ‘what’s up?’
ksxryosuke:
“Hey, you sound like a natural!” He praised her for getting it correctly the first time she said it. People who often sought him out for help in Japanese rarely ever sounded as good as Xiaolu. Maybe it was because they were both used to adjusting their tongues when learning languages? Both of them were foreigners in this land, after all. “You sounded like my younger sisters just now.” And she did, but in a different sense—his younger sisters often called him gaki no onii-chan.
Pronouncing the words correctly would be a waste if he didn’t teach her any proper Japanese. So he conceded at least one proper word for her. It was the least he could do. “Right then. Tomodachi is the Japanese word for friend. Mirai is your tomodachi.” Mirai better appreciate that because he was going to teach Xiaolu how to call her piglet princess next.
xiaolu smiled. ‘really? i’m glad to hear i’m doing so well.’ maybe if this kept up, she’d be able to say a few sentences of japanese, or even be able to understand a few phrases. mirai didn’t have a clue she was learning from ryosuke, so the fact that she was going to be able to surprise her with her growing knowledge of japanese made her excited and eager to learn more.
‘tomodachi.’ she repeated the word effortlessly. ‘ah, i understand. mirai is my tomodachi. ryosuke is my tomodachi.’ this word was simple to pronounce, as it was a nice word, too. xiaolu tried to envision how she could incorporate saying tomodachi to mirai for the first time.

his eyes were closed when he felt her finger tapping over and over against his sensitive forehead, brows immediately furrowing and his skin wrinkling. he would’ve slapped anyone else’s hand away at this point, but just because it was xiaolu, he let the action slide. his head lifted slightly to reveal his pointy eyes that stared right at her, noticing the pout that she had on her face.
damn, those eyes; those lips. he always caved into those.
another sigh escaped him as he sat back up properly and twirled his pen around his fingers, returning his attention back to her. “fine, then. help me think,” he moved back in a little closer to her before continuing. “if it’s 4 o’clock right now… cafeteria and library would definitely be filled to the brim. mmh…” he tapped on his forehead, trying to think of a suitable place for them. suddenly, it was like a light bulb went off in his head. “..we could totally sneak into a lecture hall.”
once she’d gotten his attention, she could feel herself automatically brighten. it didn’t take much for the stoner to waver, she had her ways of persuasion which strangely didn’t work on others except sangjun. her hands pulled back and she grinned.
‘alright,’ she straightened up, switching between settling her gaze on the coffee table and the ceiling. the library was obviously off limits, because of the 4 o’ clock peaktime, which could also apply to the grounds surrounding the school. ‘cliques would have inhabited the spots underneath the trees...’ a shame, since she really liked sitting in the shade.
but when he suggested the lecture hall, and sneaking, she gave him a worried look. ‘ah, sneaking...? there’s a possibility we might get caught, though.’

sangjunks:
his head lifted from her shoulder with a smack of his lips, trying to think of a spot where they could be alone, in silence and he would still be able to have fun. it didn’t help that many of the cliques on school grounds had their own spaces that were often taken up by a few students at a time and anywhere else was basically the middle of nowhere. he sat in silence for a moment, realizing that he was just going to have to accept the fact that they were stuck in the dorm and he would need to create his own methods of entertainment.
his lips curved into a small frown as he turned his body inwards to face the tiny coffee table that they were using, grumbling as he mumbles, “nevermind. this school is shitty.” he crossed his arms on top of his textbook and pressed his forehead to his arms in despair.
a brow lifted up in surprise, and she studied his sulky appearance. well, she couldn’t fully disagree with his statement, especially when there was something like the clique system in place, which she believed only did more harm than good. the negatives always outweighed the positives, to nobody’s surprise, but that was an issue better left dealt with at another time. right now she needed her attention on sangjun, since studying her notes were a lost cause.
she reached out across the coffee table to softly poke at the middle of his head, pouting while she did. ‘aw, c’mon. you were the one that brought it up.’ her fingers kept on poking him. ‘sangjun~ let’s not sulk now~ you really can’t think of a place? i’ll help you think of one.’

sangjunks:
he couldn’t help the smirk that curved onto his lips from the satisfaction of success. she was annoyed, yes, but she was finally giving him the attention that he wanted since nothing else entertained him more than his best friend. he smiled innocently, tilting his head a bit to add to his ‘cuteness’.
“maybe? if i’m gonna get murdered, i certainly want you to be the one that’s behind the knife.” he nods, bending forward to rest the weight of his chest against her arm and his head nuzzled against her shoulder. “xiao, i’m bored. can’t we move somewhere else to study? i’m already in this dorm for 70% of the day– i don’t know how much more i can handle of this ugly ass scenery.” sangjun complained, despite it being his own messy room that could easily be fixed with a little motivation and a few closet organizers.
she pondered over the thought for a moment. while murdering him did sound nice, since he’d given her permission and all, then what was she waiting for? xiaolu watched him, eyes rolling once he nuzzled against her shoulder. she’d do herself a favour...
‘aigoo, you’re a baby,’ she said, puckering her lips. ‘then where do you propose we move to, hm? i don’t mind where it is, as long as i can study without any disturbance.’ the dorms were a perfect place to study when the library was just too packed. the recent surge of students hadn’t made it any easier to find a spare spot, since they’d always be some hanging around, talking to their friends.

his brows raised in slight surprise at her reaction, but he had received the exact words in the exact tone with the exact movements several times in the past that she barely phased him these days. it took him back to the days when their friendship was fresh and baby-like and all the things she did and revealed to him was new and exciting and nowadays, it was extremely difficult to think about things he didn’t already know about xiaolu.
another groan of frustration, mostly with himself and his inability to focus, escaped his throat as his face pressed up against the textbook page. things weren’t going to get better from here and if he left, he would end up coming back because he didn’t exactly have anywhere else to go. he straightened his body and looked at her with a pout, moving in closer to cutely knock on her arm. “pleaaase, lulu? pretty please?” he whined, calling her a nickname that thought was a perfectly, over-the-top, punch-inducing name.
about three minutes in, and xiaolu could barely concentrate on her notes anymore. threatening sangjun to quieten down wouldn’t work, but she felt bad she had to resort to such a thing to do so. then again, there’s been numerous times where she’d just hit him without warning, because he had a knack for getting on her nerves. though, it was fair game since he used the same method on her almost as frequently as she did. it was like a circle, always going round and round but never being able to resolve itself.
the brainiac tightened her grip on her pen, sighing with exasperation. no choice but to look up once more, although that cute act he was pulling thawed at her icy expression. she felt the corners of her lips twitch from trying to fight back a smile. ‘do you want to die?’
ksmiyoung:
miyoung reassuringly smiled, flipping her hair to the other side. “it’s fine. too many guys were trying to grind against me anyways, so i needed an excuse out.” which was true, to some extent. “since we’re here though, why are you here in the first place? you don’t seem like the party type.” she teased, waving her hand with her drink around as the liquid inside sloshed against the short walls. she takes another sip, feeling the alcohol kicking in.
“ah,” she realized, her cheeks probably red from both the alcohol and her embarrassment. “i forgot to introduce myself. i’m bae miyoung, jinwoo’s best friend. he’s told me about you,” she paused to wiggle her eyebrows at the other girl in a knowing manner before continuing her slur, “i hear a looooot of good things about you, so i hope you can trust me if you ever need any help tonight.”
xiaolu nodded, smiling a bit. ‘a friend forced me to come here, and she was being really incessant, so...’ her eyes wandered to the girl’s drink in her hand, wondering if she should do something to steady her so she wouldn’t lose her drink. the brainiac watched enough television to know some types of drunks became violent when they lost their drink.
a lightbulb went off in her head. ‘oh, it’s nice to meet you---ah, really? w-what has he said about me?’ xiaolu blurted out. when she meant -good things, were they really good? ‘i-i just ask that because he... um, well.’ she didn’t know if she could confine in a total stranger she’d just met moments ago. ‘forget i said anything.’
ksxryosuke:
“No! No, it wasn’t wrong. It was just…really cute.” What a liar he was. Maybe he should feel bad that Xiaolu was learning all the bad ones first. But the opportunity to indirectly make fun of Mirai was too good of a chance to pass up. Besides, it wasn’t like he wasn’t going to teach her proper Japanese; he was just trying to rile up Mirai first. It was already obvious who Xiaolu was learning all those words from. But Xiaolu looked so thankful and excited and it’s really killing Ryosuke’s mischief that he didn’t know what he’d do when both women sought him out, especially since Xiaolu was going to surprise Mirai with those.
“You’re actually pretty good at this,” he complimented, shooting her a smile. It wasn’t like he was lying—her pronunciation’s on point and he’s done very little to correct her yet. The l’s and r’s were their biggest challenge, but it was something they could bother with the next time.
“Okay so when she asks you who she is to you, tell her atashi no gaki. Like this: a-ta-shi no ga-ki.” He had to hide his laugh behind a cough this time. Mirai would definitely flip being called my brat, and Ryosuke was already laughing at the image.
she perked up, smiling a bit. cute was better than terrible, so at least she was getting somewhere with this. pronunciation was important too, since she knew a lot of koreans who learned mandarin but failed to say the words properly. xiaolu replied with a confident ‘thank you,’ and listened to the next bit of japanese he said.
‘okay, atashi... atashi no gaki?’ xiaolu tilt her head at him, and practiced a bit. ‘a-ta-shi no ga-ki. hey, i think i’m getting the hang of it...’ she rarely self-praised herself, but she thought her pronunciation was getting better. at least, that’s what she was hearing. ‘atashi no gaki. mirai is atashi no gaki.’
ksdaewon:
With his notepad in hand and his camera bag on his shoulder, Daewon entered the busy store looking for a cup of coffee before he decided what he was going to do with his day. It was one of those rare days of his when he had an early class and not work in the afternoon so as soon as he was done with his class, he was free to do whatever he wanted with his time. Usually, he had something to film but since he had finished editing his latest video, he had decided to take a break. Well, a break that involved him taking pictures or drawing a beautiful sight that he might use in a future video.
It was as he looked around the place that he realized how popular it was and if he had been in a hurry, he would have left at once. Since he had the patience to wait in line, he did so but when he finally had his cup in hand, the place was still full, if not fuller. Walking around the place, he tried to find a place to sit down to eat the cookies he bought along with his coffee and when he spotted a chair in front of a girl with a book, he slowly made his way towards her. “Um, excuse me.” He tried to get her attention and offering a friendly smile, he added: “Do you mind if I sit here? I promise you won’t even notice I am here.”
xiaolu felt the presence of someone, so she looked up to see a boy slowly making his way towards her. at first glance, he looked like any normal student at keisung. that is, until he got close enough so that she could see his face clearly. ‘...uh, s-sure. go ahead.’ without making eye-contact, she moved her chair over so that the boy could have more room to sit.
a misfit. he already looked huge compared to the likes of xiaolu, so it was only natural for her to feel somewhat fearful in case he used this opportunity to use her for his own gain to complete school work. she peeked at him through the corner of her eyes, then dropped them to her book. he had promised she wouldn’t notice that he was there. only time would tell.
ksxjunhwan:
he snorted in disbelief, a little hurt that the brainiac had so little faith in him but he sensed it was probably a joke and made light of it. “of course i wouldn’t ditch you, you’re the only one who can teach me about the amygdala.” as unfortunate as it was, he was lagging behind the class when the syllabus introduced the amygdala. he was never good at science in the first place, so memorizing the different triggers and responses of the amygdala was giving him a headache.
but his worry melted away when he was handed a pair of chopsticks and started indulging in pieces of sushi the girl had spread out before them. “yeah,” he replied heartily, knowing she was interested in science and anything mentally challenging for him. “apparently he took part in the breakthrough of modifying genes. he was the lead researcher in korea for a while but he dropped his position to teach keisung as a side job. a pretty cool professor if i have to say so myself.”
xiaolu smiled into her sushi, laughing a bit. ‘oh that’s right, i almost forgot.’ she remembered the time when they went over the amygdala and the functions in science. it was all common knowledge to someone who majored in neuroanthropology, which was why she got many students trying to persuade her to help them on their homework involving the brain. she didn’t mind it, really, but there were times when she had to put her foot down and direct them to someone else. being a brainiac was tiring, at times.
‘oh, that’s incredible. although, i wonder what made him choose keisung? i mean---’ she pauses, giving junhwan a knowing look. ‘anyway, i’d love to have someone like that as a professor.’
