I'm sure this isn't a new take but the miraculous fixing of No Man's Sky, while laudable for the studio, has been a fucking disaster for the gaming public. Every time a game launches in dogshit condition people refer to No Man's Sky as a model for how it could still be good eventually.
I just saw an article about how the most recent patch for Fallout 76, an extremely boring and microtransaction-laden mess that launched basically unplayable, brings it to a "No Man's Sky" style redemption.
So the whole concept has now been fully coopted by marketers, I think, to sell their dogshit live service titles after subs fall off. I've seen some poor rube suggest it could still happen for KSP2, a game whose studio has been closed and which is *still* not consistently stable a year on from launch.
Everyone stop buying video games until we figure out what the fuck is even going on here.
