We have been placed under a SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING until 6:45 PM and a TORNADO WATCH until 1:00 AM. Severe weather will be possible into the overnight hours tonight, then again tomorrow and Wednesday between the afternoon hours and around midnight each day. All hazards are on the table from any thunderstorm that forms: high winds, large hail, frequent lightning, flooding rains, and even tornadoes. This thin green line is a boundary between two different types of air masses. It is slowly moving to the south. Storms are most likely to form along this boundary, but the big question is when this will happen. There is a chance we will see some action during the overnight hours. Primary threat will be powerful winds, followed by brief periods of very heavy rainfall and possibly small hail. If the storms die prior to reaching the Wichita area, strong winds caused by their collapse could still reach us. The good news is that the tornado risk is all but zero.
