Today had been nothing short of disastrous. Truly it couldn’t have gone any worse. It was as if on this one day, the universe had plotted against Shigeo Kageyama to make him as miserable as possible. For it was today that the boy had accidentally told his beloved crush, Tsubomi, that she was obnoxious.
It had all started as a simple day at the mall. Shigeo was in need of a few new hoodies for the cold season, accompanied only by an invisible evil spirit that he just happened to consider a companion. The two entered one of the stores, when the phantom decided to make a sarcastic remark about searching for clothes in the girl’s section. Shigeo callously cut the spirit off, even going off on a small diatribe about tasteless humor. However, by the time he turned around to call his friend obnoxious, he came face to face with Tsubomi instead.
Little had he realized she was there the whole time, watching him rant at what only he knew was not thin air. Before he could even try to explain himself, the girl walked off, her face seeming haunted with concern.
...Which led Shigeo to run away from his problems and take solace by hiding at the bottom of the ocean floor. It was here and only here that he could truly release his emotions. Anywhere else would be too dangerous for the innocent people nearby.
However, while cradled up in a fetal position against the ocean floor, he heard a light noise from within his massive underwater barrier bubble. Craning his head up to check if a fish had fallen into his air sphere, Shigeo suddenly shot straight up the instant he set eyes on another human.
“Uh-... hi,” he mumbled, his hands now fidgeting together as he gazed straight at the pink-haired stranger with a dead stare. However, his gaze was not so much fixed on what he saw, rather, it locked onto what he felt. For from the other person came an aura so strong, that it felt like the hand of a god was being pushed against Shigeo.
Honestly... it was a little concerning.
Still, fear of an unknown ESPer was not enough to break his stare. Instead, he simply sat in silence for a solid half a minute, waiting and watching as if studying a science experiment. The unusual level of intrigue in the boy was almost enough to make him forget about what had just happened back on solid land. ...Almost.
“Are you trying to get away from your problems too?”
