UP Govt approves DPR of Kanpur, Agra and Meerut Metro Rail projects
Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is very serious about the proposed Metro projects in Uttar Pradesh. According to officials of the Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation (LMRC), the approval of the Detail Project Report (DPR) of the Metro rail projects in Kanupar, Meerut and Agra has been received by the Deputy Government. After this the DPR has now been sent to the Central Government for approval. Hopefully this will soon be passed in the central Government cabinet too.
LMRC Managing Director Kumar Keshav informed about this in a special interaction with Media. He said, the UP government has approved the DPR prepared for the metro rail projects in Kanpur, Meerut and Agra cities. This proposal has now been sent to the center.
He said that after receiving approval from the Union Urban Development Ministry, the DPR will be sent to the central government cabinet. After approval of the Cabinet, further work will be started.
Kumar Keshav said that the DPR of the proposed Charbagh-Basantkuj Corridor in Lucknow has also got approval from the government. Soon this proposal will also be sent to the center for approval. After clearance from there, the way for the construction of the Metro Rail project in these three cities will be clear.

Significantly, the state government is serious about running Metro in major cities of UP. Based on the central policy, revised proposals are being prepared for this. According to sources, the revised DPR has been prepared for the metro rail in Meerut, Kanpur and Agra.
The central government has come up with a new Metro rail policy in 2017. The center had asked the states to send DPRs on its basis, only after the DPR has been sent to LSRR for Meerut, Kanpur and Agra.
The Housing and Urban Planning Department has prepared a DPR for Metro Rail on the basis of central policy. According to departmental sources, 32 95 kilometers of Meerut, 32 km in Kanpur and 30 kilometers Metro in Agra will run. In these three cities two corridors will be built for the Metro. The work of both the carriors is likely to be completed in year 2024. In these three cities, about four thousand crore rupees will be spent on the metro.

Lucknow Metro | LMRC to extend to Unnao,Barabanki, Rae Bareli and Sitapur
Lucknow: Following the path of the Delhi metro, Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation (LMRC) plans to extend metro services to the Lucknow satellite cities such as Barabanki, Unnao, Rae Bareli and Sitapur.
A team of LMRC officials has identified the new routes and will soon conduct a feasibility study and prepare a detailed project report (DPR).
“One should not be surprised if Lucknow Metro connects satellite cities such as Barabanki, Unnao, Rae Bareli, Hardoi or Sitapur.The Delhi metro also connects Noida, Ghaziabad, Sahibabad, Faridabad and Gurgaon.One has to wait for expansion,” said the director Manager of LMRC, Kumar Keshav.
The LMRC has left an opening to expand towards Barabanki from Munshipulia through the Faizabad road. Similarly, it will not be difficult to expand the route from Charbagh to SGPGIMS towards Mohanlalganj. The survey of the route has already been made.
“The route linking the Gomti Nagar Extension along Shaheed Path is under consideration, as it can be extended to Rae Bareli, the route linking Charbagh and Vasant Kunj can be extended to Hardoi and Sitapur. the airport subway station for the Unnao route, “Keshav said.
“In addition to completing the Charbagh to Munshipulia corridor, we also have to look for the Lucknow Metro expansion to other areas, and the physical verification of the route between Charbagh and Vasant Kunj has been completed,” he added.
Keshav said that this corridor would be more challenging than the North-South corridor since the route would cover occupied and narrow areas.
“We plan to start working in this corridor soon, this route is important as it will provide more traffic than the Amausi-Munshipulia route, it will cover densely populated areas of Naka Hindola, Aminabad, Yahiyaganj, KGMU and Thakurganj. subway stations, “said Keshav.
He said that the problem areas had been identified and that a list of solutions had been prepared.
“If everything goes according to plan, the subway trip from Charbagh to Vasant Kunj will be available in 2023,” he said.

Lucknow Metro | LMRC organises an event on women safety in association with Women Helpline
Lucknow: A group of 200 Supportive Power Angles from 1090 visited the Charbagh Metro Station under the supervision of Ms. Babita Singh (DSP, 1090) where they were welcomed by Shri Kumar Keshav, Managing Director, senior officials of the Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation.
The main objective of this program was to pay a tribute to the brave heart girl ‘NIRBHAYA’ by the association of LMRC and 1090. During this visit, the officers of LMRC provided all important information related with safety and security of female commuters in metro. These include Talk back button, CCTV Camera, availability of female guard at every metro station.
On this occasion, Mr. Kumar Keshav, Managing Director, LMRC while relating to everyone, ensured that while traveling in the Lucknow Metro is completely safe and Lucknow Metro has used every new system for their commuters safety and he said, “Let’s Strive together to make metro-A safe travel for one and for all..”
Women Helpline Team in Lucknow Metro
Ms. Babita Singh and his team described this experience of the Lucknow Metro as very unique and impressed by the metro trains and the systems at the station. She also thanked LMRC to provide such a facility and asked women police to visit the metro system and sensitized female Metro commuters on the safety and security aspects.
Power Angels conveyed the message through the public drama and song that women are no longer weak or not to keep the misconceptions about them of being weak. They also took a ride from Charbagh Metro Station to Krishna Nagar and back.

Lucknow: Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation‘s (LMRC) principal advisor E Sreedharanon Tuesday advised the Metro officials to implement austerity measures to control the expenses on maintenance and operations as the project is yet to start making profit.
Dr. E. Sreedharan, Principal Advisor, LMRC, visited Lucknow Metro and reviewed the progress of the project for the entire 23 km long North –South Corridor (Phase 1A) from Chaudhary Charan Singh Airport to Munshipulia. Shri Kumar Keshav, Managing Director and other Directors accompanied him throughout his visit and briefed him about the progress of this prestigious Metro project.
During his visit, Sreedharan also reviewed the progress of 23km-long North – South Corridor (Phase 1A) from Chaudhary Charan Singh Airport to Munshipulia.
Kumar Keshav, the managing director of the LMRC and other officials accompanied Sreedharan during the inspection and briefed him about the progress of the Lucknow Metro project.
Sreedharan first visited the Transport Nagar Metro station where Kumar Keshav briefed him the operational and passenger facilities provided by the LMRC.
The ‘Metroman’ also visited the concourse and platform of the station to inspect the state-of-the-art facilities.
Sreedharan later took a ride in a Metro train from Transport Nagar to Charbagh and expressed satisfaction on the cleanliness maintained at the station and train coaches.
“He praised Kumar Keshav and his team for maintaining top-class standards at the station and inside the train”, said an official.
Sreedharan also visited LMRC’s administrative office where officials apprised him about the progress of the underground Metro work on the Hussainganj-Sachivalaya-Hazratganj section and the elevated section beyond KD Singh Babu to Munshipulia.
Sreedharan also discussed the progress of other proposed projects in Varanasi, Kanpur and Gorakhpur.
