Simon groans, burying his head in the pillow in an attempt not to look at the phone anymore. But it doesn't help. His mind is running in circles anyway, unable to concentrate on anything else but Wilhelm's message. So he turns around, staring at it once again, before his fingers begin to move over the keyboard. His headphones are still in, even if Simon has stopped paying attention to the music a while ago. Another sad love song just started.

It wouldn't be the first time that Wille drunk texts him in the middle of the night. Not that it would take any of the gravity from what he wrote, because Simon is well aware how much easier it is for the prince to pour out his heart with alcohol involved.

Because talking about it could only hurt. What use would there be in admitting how much they missed each other? How they struggled with the distance and the irregular meetups? They've agreed on no attachment, knowing full well that such an arrangement between them was doomed to fail.

Writing that feels like stabbing his own heart. Because as much as Simon wants those words to be true - How will be ever be truly there, when their lives are like parallel lines unable to cross? Neither of them can give up their position at this point, they've made their choices. And yet Simon would give everything to jump on the next plane to Stockholm, the consequences be damned.
