i watched the kunjiramayanam cast on onnum onnum moonu and it was so cute. i love the little quiz thing they do where you get to see them be all jokey with eachother.
why wasn’t there an episode with the Bangalore Days cast? or one with the majority of the Premam cast?
*SPOILER* for Kunjiramayanam
Neeraj Madhav, Deepak Parambol, Srinda Arhaan and Dhyan Sreenivasan
There’s some spoilery discussion about a special appearance in Kunjiramayanam.
Review: Kunjiramayanam
I just saw Kunjiramayanam, and as expected, I enjoyed it. It’s an absurdist comedy with a plot mostly for the sake of formality. If you’ve seen director Basil Joseph’s short film Priyamvada Katharayano, you’ll know what I’m talking about. The story here is about the imbecilic people of a village out of time and their nutty antics. Think the surreal village weirdos-driven comedy at the beginning of Amen and Mosayile Kuthira Meenukal. I recommend seeing it with those films in mind.
One issue I did have is that, like in Priyamvada and Oru Thundu Padam, the female characters in Kunjiramayanam are thinly one-dimensional. Unusual for Malayalam films, it feels like the storytellers don’t have much experience with women to even fill the female characters out in caricatures the way it does its male characters. Tellingly, it is Kunjiraman’s mother played by Seema G. Nair who gets equal character treatment with the men of Desham.
Lastly, there’s a special guest appearance by a Kerala favourite that I really liked (and it’s not the person you’ve already heard about).
