Leanardo liked to think that she was a good girl. She listened to Splinter, and she did her best to follow what she had been told. Usually. Sometimes curiosity got the better of her.
She knew that she and her sisters weren't allowed topside until they were older, but she wasn't exactly sure why. It was dangerous, sure, but she had seen stuff on TV. Surely the surface couldn't be as bad as Mother had said?

Lea got as far from the lair as she dared to go, and made a beeline for the closest ladder. It would just be a peek, and then she would go right back home. She wouldn't be completely topside; just her head. Nobody would even notice that she had been gone.
Wrapping her legs around a ladder rung, she pressed her hands against the manhole cover and pushed up with all her might. The heavy cover ground against the pavement as she slid it open, and Lea blinked in sunlight that came through. Once she was certain the lid wouldn't move, she carefully poked her head out of the manhole. Her eyes widened into circles as she took in the city for the first time.
