Travelling to The World That Never Was, in and of itself, was betting every single thing on a tiny chance that the other would be possibly happy about his arrival.

Riku somehow doubted he wouldn’t be – but the other Vessels would be all the more delighted with this discovery of the ‘fake’, the ‘impostor’.

He’d been as skilled as he could possible be in reaching the other’s room, fingers reaching so that he could hop in through the window and lean against the ‘sill; He hadn’t really expected the other to wake so easily – but really, what else could he have possibly expected? – and teal hues, behind his ‘fold, had to blink slightly at the question;

“Are you… still mad at me?”

That certainly wasn’t the only reason he’d come here – no, of course not; to do so would most definitely be idiotic – but it had been gnawing at his mind for the longest time, causing restless nights, and nerves that rivalled most he’d ever encountered.

Somehow, the idea of the other being mad at him just…. Unsettled him.

When he heard the rustle of a cloak outside his window his eyelids fluttered and when he heard someone climb up, he was awake, though only in the most literal sense of the word. He was still very sleepy and far from alert.

He frowned when he finally made out who was standing there, blindfold and all.

"Riku…"

He couldn't understand what the other was doing there. Was he still asleep? Surely that was what was happening because there was no way the silver would realistically put his own life, and Sora's, on the line for him.

No, his self esteem wasn't nearly that high.

"No, I'm not mad."

He replied eventually, a small, soft smile playing at his lips. Even if he weren't dreaming, he wasn't angry with the other. Oh, he had been disappointed and somewhat hurt too, but never angry. He cared too much for that, though he was loathe to admit it.

"Come here then… I can't believe that's the only reason you decided to come visit me in the middle of the night."

If it was something that he could somehow learn to control more than he already could, then by God, he would have surely learned how to do so many, many years ago.

The thirst that he’d been learning to live with, never mind sate, was almost impossible for him to possibly expect; It was a sudden thing – a dryness of the throat, a parched feeling that completely overthrew all other senses, all common sense and any sign of conscience;

It was probably a good thing he chose to wear his ‘fold – teal hues would dye themselves crimson with the bloodlust, and most of the time he gritted his teeth to hide the appearance of fangs, sharpened incisors that were obviously unnatural;

He hated what he was, that much was certain; but it wasn’t like he could help it much, either – it was something that controlled him, rather than the other way around.

Of all people, it was another version of himself that had to find out– Naturally – almost as if God himself was spiting him for something that wasn’t even his fault.

And it’s a tug at his conscience, something that pulls his own thoughts and actions to the sidelines, that has him pinning the other by the forearms, crimson hues hidden by both the ‘fold and his own bangs as sharp fangs spend not a second’s hesitation in burying themselves into skin a few shades more coloured than his own. Kurix had always been fairly conscious about what was going on around him and yet he hadn't noticed the other's approach. Granted it was dark, but that had never stopped him before. On the contrary, it usually heightened his senses.

He knew something was wrong the moment someone touched his arms and surprisingly, he couldn't get free. He gasped, feeling sharp fangs pierce his skin, bringing up the blood below, aided by his slightly heightened pulse.

"W-What the—"

He hissed softly at the sensation, feeling himself grow weaker and lightheaded as time passed on and the other, obviously a vampire, continued to feed on him.

"Stop…"

The Darkness had faded for a time but, he noted, it only seemed to be short-lived; As much as he hated to admit it – he would probably have gone down then and there if this person had decided to pick up a fight.

Teal hues had been tightly shut behind his fold, though the Darkness had been thick enough for him to identify an Organisation member— It was only upon hearing the voice, an exact replication of his own, that he turned his gaze upward, catching a stray gaze of silver underneath that hood;

What was going on–?

The question he most wanted to ask ( but probably would’ve ended up coughing up blood if he’d tried ) was spoken by the other – in his voice, that voice of the Replica – and Riku could do nothing but remain silent for a time.

To answer, or not– The Organisation already knew what they were up to, that much he had confirmed— But, what good would it to for him to lie to this– This copy, anyway?

Was it another imitation? Like the Replica?

Or— Something else–?

“Tell me, first – who you are.”

Tell me, first – why you are dressed as one of us.

He was in no position to be demanding answers— But, it was rude to ask someone’s name without giving your own, first; And besides – who knew what kind of danger he could be in, by giving his name without any level ground to hold over the other?

He turned up his nose at the other, the one who looked so much like him it was almost spooky. Still, he wanted to know, needed to know who this person was. Why was he dressed like them? He had heard there was an imposter going around but… Was this him? Surely it shouldn't have been so easy to catch him if it were.

But if they really did look so similar then perhaps that was how he had managed to stay hidden for so long. Then again, if he didn't know who he was then he couldn't have posed as him either.

He almost sighed.

It seemed they were both clueless since no one had deemed him important enough to inform him of who was trying to impersonate him. And if not who then what. He knew Vexen had been playing around with the Replica program but surely this wasn't one of those? Despite the coat, he shouldn't have been this ignorant if he were one of Vexen's creations.

He decided simply telling the truth would do, for now. Or at least a partial truth. After all, this stranger didn't need to know his former name, only his current. he didn't like referring to himself like that anymore anyway. That wasn't who he was anymore. He wasn't the naive boy that stepped into the darkness without fear, he was the one that stepped out of it, was molded by it and came out stronger than before.

He cast out the slivers of doubt and looked down upon the silver.

"My name is Kurix. Now, who are you?"

Babysitting the Darkness || Closed RP

He scowled as he took the paper and wandered back towards his room. It seemed Lord Xemnas thought he should be watched as he had been paired with that obnoxious redhead for a mission today. He hadn't actually talked to Axel before but he didn't like the redhead much judging from his interactions with Roxas and Xion. 

He would much rather complete his missions on his own and continue his training with Zexion but he couldn't have it. No doubt this was Lord Xemnas' way of affirming Kurix wouldn't stray from his path after having met Sora again for the first time after leaving the Islands and being found by them. 

He was wrong though, Kurix had fought and nearly broken the boy with his words and Darkness combined. Seeing that pained look on the brunet's face had given him a thrill and the Darkness only increased. So then why did Xemnas seem to think—

He glanced up to notice it was nearly time for his mission and left his room again, only to bump into the redhead prematurely. Without sparing the other a single word he turned and headed fro the Grey area. He needed to stock up on a few potions from the Moogle's shop and he would gladly keep Axel waiting, if only to annoy the other.

We'll see who gets sick of this first. I don't need a babysitter!
