Yo!

No fic today, I’m afraid since life this weekend is CHAOS and this is the first wi-fi I’ve had all day- but have this lil’ accompanying embroidery thing I did!

I won’t give too much about the fic away but I will tell you it’s partly based on the ‘red thread of fate’ idea (originating in Chinese folklore I believe? It’s only very loosely inspired), partly based on the song ‘Hang Forever’ by Ivy Levan which is one of my fave Kurlish songs at the moment (can’t link right now, you’ll have to google it!)

COMING SOON: Kurlish Week

Greetings, Dirktectives- we have a little project on the horizon you might be interested in!

With all the love in this fandom for Brotzly and Faranda, we thought it about time our Murder Bros get a little niche to themselves too. Introducing KURLISH WEEK- your hub for all your Bart/Ken needs! Whether you ship them romantically or platonically, all interpretations are welcome!

But before we get this show on the road, we’re going to need your help!

With the exception of Day 8, which will be a Free Day, we’d like each day to have its own theme. So your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to send us one-word prompts! Our inbox is open, so if you can think of a word (or several- don’t be shy!) that could be a good starter/source of inspiration to anyone who wants to contribute, send it on in! We’ll choose seven of these words (or they might choose themselves if the same words get multiple suggestions) to become our daily themes!

We’re hoping to get this show on the road on October 1st to gear up for season 2- if you want more details on dates and submission guidelines (including our policy on NS/FW contributions), please visit our INFO PAGE- all your questions will be answered within! And if you have a question that isn’t answered, send it our way! In the meantime if you could reblog this/tell your friends that’d be great, we want as many people taking part as possible and the more prompt submissions, the better!

day 1 “TOUCH”

Ken is sleeping and Bart wants to touch his hand but doesn’t want to wake him up. she is probably gonna wake him up.

my great plan (since this morning when i realised it was october AND bart&ken week) was to overlap inktober and this event.

but i haven’t drawn in forever and i’m scared to ink this, so... have a WiP sketch for now

i did use references from some other movie Mpho Koaho was in and a dghda gif for Fiona Dourif... the sort of things you can find by googling the actors.

Kurlish Week Day 2

Leverage AU Words: 724 Warnings: None

Bart scowls down at the business card in front of her as if she could kill it just by looking(Which she can, Ken’s seen her do it.) The offending piece of card winks up at her, it’s surface reflecting the lights of Ken’s rig. “You said you wanted to go clean.” Ken reminds her, pulling yesterdays take out from the mini-fridge, “This is your chance- our chance.”

“Well yeah, but not with them.” “What bothers you so much about these people?” Ken asks, pulling out some stirfry for himself.

“It’s Dirk Gently.” “Dirk Gently?” Ken huffs out a laugh, “Bart, that guy just saved your life.” “I know. That’s what’s bothering me.” “That he saved you?” “That he had to.” Ken sighs and pushes himself back from the table. “Is this about me? About how I didn’t realise how close the guards were until it was too late?” Bart glares at him as she snatches a piece of pork out of the take out bag. Ken was sure the box inside was secure but with Bart, she could snatch just about anything.

“No.” she says mid chew, “It’s about me. I should have been faster. Or ..somethin’” “Maybe it’s good to have people other than me looking out for you. People who can actually run in and fight instead of sitting in a van and worrying constantly. I can’t know everything, Bart. You can’t know everything, Bart.” “I know.”

Ken smiles at that and stands up with his take out. “I’m gonna go scope out the pool.” he tells her. He puts two fingers on the card and pushes it closer to Bart. “Think about it?”

Ken pushes open the doors of Holistic Consulting, his body practically vibrating with excitement. The offices take up the whole floor of a building, which Bart doesn’t get. She and Ken work perfectly well in a van that could fit into the corner of the waiting room. She grits her teeth as she glances around. The two doors behind her lead out. If she cranes her neck a little she can see that the one right in front of her leads into some sort of board room. “It’s kinda big.” she tells Ken, hoping he’ll pick up on her discomfort and tell her that this was all a mistake.

Before he can reply a wall to the right opens. No, a door. A door that is a wall. A wall that is a door? A woman holding two cups of coffee comes out. Bart recognises her as the Hitter. Bart thinks she could remember the woman’s name if she tried, but she doesn’t bother. She takes the coffee that’s handed to her and follows the woman’s directions. Right back through the wall-door. Door-wall…. It leads through to a cramped space. Three desks are crammed into the space. One is piled high with junk that Bart can’t find a reason for. A light bulb, a crank, a clown toy… Her eyes skip over to where a guy is sitting. She thinks he might be the Grifter. A few wadded up costumes are strewn about over his chair and under his desk. He’s got his head pillowed on his arm and is looking through them.

The last desk is organised meticulously, the papers piled in two different trays and the pencils in a uniform grey cup. “Uh.. Dirk?” The woman calls. There’s a clattering from underneath the first desk and then a frazzled looking Dirk Gently peeks over the top. “Ah, yes! Bart, Ken!”

As Dirk clambers around the desk his leg catches on something and he stumbles. He rights himself with vigour and reaches out to shake their hands. Ken accepts his hand, Bart glowers at him and holds her overly hot cup between both hands. “Have you two thought about our offer?” he asks undeterred. Ken nods his head and jerks his head towards the door. “I’ve got all my stuff back in the van.”

Bart looks up at him, the way his grin stretches his face too much. He holds himself in a way Bart’s never seen. Her eyebrows draw together when she looks back at Dirk. He’s looking back at her expectantly. Bart shrugs loosely. “What do you guys do, anyway?” she relents. Dirk smiles at her and leans back a little, “We provide… Leverage.”
