chapter sneak peek:
“My nen has changed within you,” Kurapika says. “‘An equal exchange,’ Hisoka told me.” Kurapika summons his chains, studying them before turning his attention back to Kuroro. The man stares thoughtfully at the Spider’s chest. “I suppose the nen exorcist could not fully lift my conditions off of you. Not without leaving something behind.”
Kurapika doesn’t seem angry, not yet. Nonetheless, Kuroro proceeds carefully. “Your curse was stubborn,” he allows. Kurapika scoffs at his understatement.
“I gave up part of my life for it. It was designed to burrow within you, Lucilfer, to grow and fester and rot. A corruption of that kind cannot simply be cut out.” Kurapika’s calm mask finally splinters, then.
“So I will ask you this once–” his voice lowers, dangerous, “--what was left behind?”
