to say that kurt kunkle was obsessed with you would be an understatement. ever since you got into his spree that fateful day, he had become scarily fixated on you, revolving his entire life around what you were doing, spending his spare time focussing on the newest ways that he could get close to you. nowadays, any videos posted to his youtube channel were heavily curated to something that kurt believed would impress you.
it was freezing that day, the day that you slid into his backseat, smiling sweetly at him. instantly, kurt noticed that you were clearly the most beautiful woman he had ever laid eyes on, although that was only the beginning. he noticed you were wearing a white cable-knit babydoll sweater, a slither of matching white lace peeking out from the top. kurt couldn't take his eyes off of it.
it wasn't even a provocative or particularly revealing outfit, although something about how sweet and delicate it made you look caused kurt to drive rather dangerously; he just couldn't take his eyes off of you. next, the intoxicating scent of your perfume infiltrated his nose, allowing kurt to practically breathe you in, the car's heater permeating the smell until it had seeped into the deepest crevices of his lungs, just how he wanted it.
the next thing he noticed was your hair, how soft it looked, how perfectly it had been curled, and he was seeing things that he had never once thought about before. he was desperate to touch it, to run his hands through it, gripping it at the scalp so he could draw out any sweet noise that you were willing to give him.
whenever he stopped at a red light, he allowed himself to think about burying his face in your neck, kissing, licking, and sucking at all of the spots that made you shiver, every breath allowing your perfume to seep deeper into his veins, the taste sitting on his tongue forever. his hand would tug on your hair at the nape of your neck, forcing your head backwards to give him more skin to work with, his other hand gripping handfuls of you wherever he could reach, feeling your soft skin under your sweater.
the light would flicker to green, and he'd be ripped from the sweet world he had made so quickly in his mind, taking one last look at you before driving on. he watched you through his back mirror as you stared out of the window, and he found himself craving another sweet smile from you. what he wouldn't give to see the way your glossy lips turned, your pearly teeth exposing themselves just for him.
it was as if god was listening to him, as your beautiful eyes caught his in the mirror, and you smiled at him. kurt immediately thought that he was going to die, also feeling his pants start to tighten rapidly. he didn't even have time to tell himself to get it together, because your delicate hand came up to your hair, gently brushing your fingers through it. kurt's eyes latched onto your perfectly manicured nails, imagining what it would feel like to have those pretty pink nails running through his own hair, over his back, and down towards where he seriously needed some relief.
god kept answering prayers that he hadn't even made yet, because the next noise that he heard was your sweet voice speaking to him, "how long have you been a spree driver?" you asked, that same smile still on your face, although it was a lot softer now. kurt thought it was more intimate, like you were doing it just for him and nobody else.
it took him a second to respond, as he felt like he had just been hit with a million tiny electric shocks, each one hitting a nerve ending and sending excess heat straight to his groin, and anything that was left over was making his heart beat wildly. "i– uhm, around two years now." he answered, staring at you in the mirror, his eyes not even looking at the road. he was confident he would never crash because he already knew he would never do anything to harm you.
"and do you like it? i bet you meet lots of interesting people." you added, not realising the effect that your words were having on kurt. you were intentionally talking to him, you were conversing with him, you were intrigued by what he did, and nobody else. he began to believe that your spree app had connected you with him on purpose because you were supposed to meet. suddenly, all of his big dreams felt so small when he realised what he should have been chasing all this time, you.
kurt stammered for a second, still so genuinely shocked that you were choosing to keep up the conversation, "yeah– yeah. uhm," he chuckled slightly, his chest feeling tight. "it's whatever, i mean–" he swallowed thickly, feeling his cheeks grow hotter as your smile persisted. "some people are cool, some people are assholes." he looked out of the window for a second, desperately trying to calm down before he scared you off. "what do you do?"
he couldn't deny that he had motives for asking you about your job. sure, he was just being polite and returning the question, but had you told him you were a waitress, he knew where he'd be becoming a regular, asking what was your favourite and then ordering it tenfold, leaving his entire day's wages as a tip that he'd likely feel wasn't enough. had you told you him you were a barista, he knew he'd force himself to like coffee, and that he probably would actually like it if your pretty hands had prepared it. he grew embarrassingly hot at the thought of you drawing a heart in his latte.
"um, well, i'm a waitress at this cute little restaurant downtown." you replied. kurt's heart lurched in his chest, his first idea was right, and thus he was falling right into it's sweet arms. he was already mentally counting how much money he had made today, and wondering if it was enough to leave for you as a tip.
"that's cool. what restaurant is it? i drop a lot of people off at food places... influencers and stuff." he mumbled the last part, desperately trying not to offend you if you were famous, although he was sure he'd remember a face like yours had you come up on his phone. he started mentally kicking himself, his gut filling with dread at the thought that he had somehow forgotten you, regretting the time he didn't spend thinking about you.
you told him the name, and the second your sweet voice hit his ears again, all of the negativity he had been feeling just a second ago felt like it had immediately floated away. you just made it all better, he knew you would. sitting there, breathing in your perfume, listening to your voice, and just watching you exist had made him feel better about things he didn't even know were making him feel bad. obviously, this meant he had to keep you around.
kurt began mentally running through every restaurant that he had ever dropped somebody off at, trying to remember if he had ever been to the one that you worked at. the thought of driving past a building that you were inside and not stopping to see you was sending uncomfortable shivers down his spine, again thinking about all of the time he hadn't dedicated to you. however, catching your eye in the mirror and seeing the way you were smile softly at him, waiting for his response, made him forget what he was stressing about. again, you had made it all better.
"oh, i don't think i've ever dropped someone off there." he chuckled awkwardly, his cheeks feeling hot at the implication he may have somehow failed you, as you looked slightly hopeful that he was going to know where it was. he suddenly felt like the worst person in the world, not somebody worthy of you.
"well, if you're hungry you should stop by." you smiled, just a polite invitation that wasn't strictly literal, although, based on the way he responded, you would have thought that you told kurt to stop by your house to let you have sex with him.
he shifted in his seat, feeling his jeans grow impossibly tighter. you'd just invited him to come for lunch. him. you clearly wanted him as much as he wanted you. you didn't look like you were working today, and kurt swore he would only go if it meant you were there, he wasn't going to be served by somebody else. "yeah, i'll–" he swallowed thickly, his knuckles turning white on the steering wheel. "i'll have to check it out."
"great!" you grinned, your gaze returning to the window. even though the conversation had died down, kurt still couldn't take his eyes off of you. he watched your destination grow closer, and felt uncomfortable at the thought of letting you out of his car. it was so dangerous out there, some crazy person could come and find you, and kurt would have no way of keeping you safe. his mind flashed with images of you getting hurt, covered in blood, bruised black and blue, all because kurt wasn't there to protect you.
he pulled over, and the click of you unbuckling yourself felt like somebody had jammed a knife into his ear drum, and he knew it was possibly the most painful noise he was ever going to hear. what if he was overestimating his abilities and would never find you again? what if you were meeting up to go on a date with somebody and you fell madly in love with them?
"be safe." kurt smiled tightly, his voice sounding strained as he watched those perfect fingers reach for the handle. they should have been reaching for him, wrapping around his hand tightly. you paused for a second, reaching into your purse and pulling out a five dollar bill, handing it to him.
"thank you for the ride." you smiled, your fingers brushing his as he took the tip. kurt felt his heart beating in his skull, his mouth going dry as he felt the softness of your skin, the tip of your manicured nail brushing his palm. his breathing sped up as he got the first real taste of what he was sure was going to be the rest of his life.
he watched in silence as you exited the car and disappeared into a building. kurt sat for a moment, his entire body rattling, holding the bill in his hand. this was your money. he brought it to his nose and inhaled deeply, chasing the scent of your perfume, or maybe getting to experience the sweet hand lotion that you probably used. he breathed it in a couple of times, although it didn't really smell of anything. he grabbed his phone off of the stand that he had clipped to his dashboard, and shoved it in the back of his phone case.
he soon enough returned back to work, although he was incredibly distracted. in between clients, he found himself circling the area that he dropped you off, watching the door like a hawk for any movement. any moment that he spent away from that street was highly stressful, just the thought of missing you leaving was making kurt consider deleting the spree app altogether so he wouldn't have to work. he couldn't even smell you in the air anymore.
kurt returned home late that night, feeling the grief of losing you heavy in his chest. he hadn't seen you again, all he had from the spree app was your first name, and he didn't know where to start looking for you. the house was quiet, his mother long asleep by now. she never waited up for him, she probably wouldn't care if he never made it home. he slumped onto the couch, phone clutched in his hand, still feeling the added weight of your paper bill in his phone case.
he opened instagram, and for a moment he just wanted to disappear into kurtsworld and refocus on his actual life goals, even if he was suddenly extremely uninterested in them. the universe was clearly speaking to him, telling him that you two were meant to be together, because there you were, right there in the 'people you may know' section. kurt clicked on your profile, feeling his jeans start to tighten for the second time today, his hands shaking wildly. he couldn't believe his luck.
he was overwhelmed at the sight of so many pictures of you, looking even more beautiful than kurt had remembered. he couldn't believe that he had been given the honour of driving you around today, and that you were definitely into him as well. he remembered the way your soft voice had immediately quelled his worries about wasting time not thinking about you, and he began to apply it to other areas of his life.
his mother never cared if he came home, she never asked about his day, and she had never done any of that. so, he imagined walking through the door with you, your delicate hand in his. he would have never even noticed that his mother wasn't there, because all of his attention would be on you, how things were supposed to be. he'd lead you to his bedroom, and you'd probably smile and compliment his stuff, sitting down on his mattress.
"kurt," you'd say, and his body twitched as he imagined you saying his name. "come sit with me." you'd smile, a sweet smile just for him. he'd sit down beside you and you'd immediately straddle his lap, pushing him down to lay flat. your soft hair would brush his face, the tips tickling his nose, allowing him to breathe in the scent of your shampoo. you'd lay on top of his chest, your arms wrapped tightly around the back of his neck, tethering yourself to him.
"i love you." he whispered into the air, finding himself cold and alone in the living room. he snapped out of his daze immediately, hoping his mother hadn't heard the little whines he was making. he ran his hand over his face furiously, his eyes squeezing shut as he tried to bring you back to him.
you'd kiss his cheek, leaving a sticky print of pink lipgloss which would glitter in the light. his hands would come up to the nape of your neck, threading gently through your soft locks as he pulled you in for a kiss. he was messy and uncoordinated, even in his fantasies he didn't know what he was doing. you, of course, kissed with perfect ease, allowing him to melt into you, letting you lead. "kurt, i love you so much." you'd whisper against his mouth.
his hips would buck into you, but you'd run a finger down his cheek and over his lips. "i don't think so." you'd coo, kissing the corner of his mouth, biting his lip gently.
"please," he'd whimper, his breathing quickening despite the fact that he was exactly where he wanted to be. his eyes shot open and he was back on the couch, much to his dismay. he closed his eyes again and tried to go back, but the noises of distant cars were pulling him out of the fantasy. frustrated, he picked up his phone again and decided to continue scrolling through your instagram, as he hadn't made it very far through it before.
he clicked on the story icon, and saw that you had posted one around two hours ago, and had tagged the location in it, some club. he sat up straight on the couch, his heart thudding loudly. he could go there... he could go there and try to flirt with you... or he could go there and make sure that no creeps were following you.
he sat up on the couch and pondered it for a moment, his desperation to see you again winning him over. he practically ran back outside and into his car, fueled by the knowledge that if he played his cards right, you might sit in the passenger seat this time instead of in the back, and he'd be able to breathe you in from an even closer distance.
the club wasn't that far away from his house, and he parked down the street from it. the music was loud, radiating through the walls so that kurt could hear the muffled music from inside, a sense of peace washing over him at the thought that he was listening to the same song as you right now, and that he was getting increasingly close to you.
he decided to hang around outside, as he didn't want to drink and then risk not being able to drive home when you needed him to. he stared at the door the entire time, studying each and every person as they came out, ensuring that it wasn't you. most importantly, he did not want you leaving with another man. a low, swirling feeling of jealousy began to rise from the deepest pits of his gut, and kurt found himself close to tears at the thought of you dancing with somebody else.
he pushed his greasy hair off of his forehead, feeling his eyes burn. his chest began to heave as his mind continued to torture him with visions of you and somebody else, his filthy hands running over your delicate body, groping you roughly and in places that weren't for a stranger to touch. he wouldn't know how to take care of you like kurt did.
his thoughts were cut off when he saw a familiar face leave the club, the love of his life, you. you were surrounded by your girlfriends, with no man in sight, much to kurt's pleasure. you were swaying on your feet, beautiful hair blowing in the gentle late-night breeze while you fumbled through your phone, when kurt's buzzed.
spree: you have one new ride request.
the universe was clearly pushing you straight into kurt's arms, as when he opened the app, the request was from none other than you, your beautiful face in your profile picture staring back at him. he had never hit accept on a request faster, doing one loop around the block so that you didn't see he had been waiting outside of the club this whole time. his heart was pounding, and he genuinely couldn't believe his luck. what are the odds that you would request a ride from him?
your friends piled into the back, while you climbed into the passenger seat. only then did he really notice your outfit, a tiny baby pink dress covered in sequins. "i'm kurt, i'm your spree driver." he forced out, unable to take his eyes off of your cleavage and the way your legs looked. he shifted in his seat, and forced himself to drive, ignoring your friends in the back.
he had never been so determined to drop people off so quickly, finding the most efficient routes to take your friends home. he was so desperate to be alone with you, your perfume making it's way back into his lungs, just where it belonged. he was growing increasingly antsy at every red light, irritated by every voice and every giggle that wasn't yours.
he got everybody home safely with a tight smile, his eyes wandering to where you had been sat quietly the entire ride. your eyes were glassy, and you were clearly very, very drunk. kurt became overwhelmed with the responsibility to take care of you, even though he was sure that you were more than capable of taking care of yourself. nonetheless, you were in his hands right now, and that was an honour he would cherish forever.
he absorbed his surroundings as he pulled into your neighborhood, taking in every single tree, street sign, and every turn before your apartment building came into view. "you– uhm, you need any help getting upstairs?" he asked, his voice shaky. he had no idea what he would do if you said yes, despite being absolutely desperate for it.
you shook your head, unbuckling yourself with shaky hands. "i don't have any tip money." you slurred, your head heavy and pounding from all of the alcohol that you had consumed.
kurt raised his eyebrows in surprise, yet your concern was not unwelcome. "that's okay." he assured, sounding more nervous than reassuring. you jutted your bottom lip out, giving him the most adorable pout he had ever seen, that look was sure to burn into his memory for the rest of his life.
you fumbled with the handle for a moment, before the door finally clicked open, sending sharp shocks throughout kurt's body, a horrific reminder that you could leave at any moment. you slid out of the car, and he watched as you left him cold and alone, the scent trail of your perfume vanishing with you, the only thing he could feel being the air from the open door and the hollow emptiness in his soul.
he had you again and he did nothing. he was too distracted by your stupid friends that were being noisy in the back, taking him out of what should have been a beautiful moment with you. he quickly grew angry, infuriated that somebody could have come between your clearly star-crossed romance. he waited in his car for a moment, not wanting to drive away in case he somehow couldn't find his way back here tomorrow.
in the building, he saw a light flicker on, and he was filled with the realization that it must have been coming from your unit, and if he just counted the floors he would know how to find you... he tried to stop himself, but it was hard not to count only three floors. he opened the car door as quietly as he could, and made his way towards the building.
a tiny rock had wedged itself in between the door and the wall, meaning that it hadn't shut properly, allowing kurt to slide his fingers in between the gap, and pull it open, stepping inside. he looked around for a second, there was no lobby, just a staircase and an elevator which had caution tape on it, and a sign that said 'out of order'.
he climbed the steps slowly, being careful not to step on anything that was going to squeak, as he didn't want to risk waking somebody up and getting caught. he was sure that he looked suspicious, he knew he wasn't supposed to be here, but seeing you in that tiny dress had him acting irrationally, especially after being so pent up because of your friends disturbing your alone time with him.
it wasn't hard to find your apartment. despite the fact that you had turned the light off now, he knew which side of the building it was on, and there were only two doors on that side, and only one faced the parking lot. he brought his knuckles up, but paused before he knocked. he didn't have anything to say to you, he didn't have an explanation about why he was here, how he had gotten in the building, or how he had found your apartment. he slowly lowered his hand.
he considered leaving for a second, turning around and just going home, forgetting that he had ever come here and never telling a soul... but then he thought about your dress, your sweet perfume, and how he just wanted to check that you had made it in your bed safely. he stared at the door handle, wondering if you would have remembered to lock it in your drunken haze.
he twisted it gently, and to his shock and disbelief, it clicked open. the door creaked slightly as he pushed it, your apartment dark. it didn't look like a man live there, everything was bathed in baby pinks, creams, whites, delicate laces and ribbons, and little trinkets that looked like they had been pulled straight from an antique store. he moved forward carefully, peeking his head into the bathroom door which had been left slightly ajar.
kurt thought that it was lucky he was here, really, because what if some crazy person had realised that your door was unlocked and walked in here instead of him? it just wasn't safe. he wandered around for a second more, walking into the bathroom. he looked at all of your skincare products that were lined up on the counter, one small bottle catching his eye in particular: your perfume. the very one he had been craving all day.
he picked it up with desperate haste, holding it to his nose so that he could breathe it in. it was like he had taken a shot of the strongest drug in the world, and he was sure he could get high on it if he put his mind to it. he slipped the bottle into his pocket, hoping you wouldn't mind if it went missing. he knew that he needed it more than you did, and there was only a little bit left anyway. he'd obviously replace the bottle once he got home and was able to look it up online, you'd probably appreciate the gift.
he moved through the rest of the apartment, the bottle a comforting weight in his pocket. he noticed that you had also left your bedroom door ajar, and he could hear your soft, sleepy breaths which told him you were asleep, and so it was safe to move in. he stepped inside of the room as quietly as he could, and was quickly overwhelmed by just how much he had to look at.
you had what looked like a princess bed, a thick lacy canopy surrounding it, with fluffy sheets and a thick comforter. obviously you slept on a cloud, kurt would be mad if your bed wasn't comfortable, as you deserved the best items on the market. he took in your sleeping body, how your hair was splayed over the pillow, and you looked so at peace. he wanted to run his fingers over your cheeks, maybe slip one into your mouth just to see how it would feel, but he resisted, the fear of waking you up lingering on his mind just in case you made him go.
he saw that your dress from tonight was crumbled in a ball in the middle of the floor, and he picked it up delicately, holding it in front of him like it was made of glass. it looked even shorter this way, and kurt wasted no time holding it to his nose, practically smothering himself with it. it smelled faintly of your perfume mixed with the slight scent of alcohol. he was tempted to take it with him, but you're more likely to notice a whole dress going missing than a nearly empty bottle of perfume.
spotting your laundry basket next, kurt took one last peek behind him to make sure that you hadn't woken up before he moved towards it, his hand immediately grasping the pair of lacy pink panties that laid on the top. he made quick work sliding those into his pocket, along with the matching bra that was underneath it. he'd have to resist inspecting those for now, as he didn't want to get caught up in a situation he couldn't finish without leaving a mess.
he stood in the center of the room for a moment, feeling satisfied with everything that he had stuffed into his pockets. he stared at you on the bed, taking in how perfect you looked while you were asleep, and he wanted nothing more than to crawl next to you and engulf you in his arms, but he knew that he couldn't.
kurt walked back over to your bed, crouching in front of it. he brought his hand up to your face, stroking along your cheek gently, tucking your hair behind your ear. you stirred slightly, but seemed to lean into his touch, settling back into your pillows with a deep, calm exhale. he did that. kurt made you feel like that.
he exited your apartment that night, his heart pounding, feeling like it was about to burst. he felt so full from seeing you so relaxed and peaceful, and the little noise that you had given him before he left had just sent him completely over the moon, making him feel things that were completely irreplaceable, and he knew at once that his life would never be the same again, and he wouldn't have it any other way.
