I still revisit “Mayhem of the Music Meister” from Batman: The Brave and the Bold every so often. If I had unlimited time and budget I might remake at least the songs “I’m the Music Meister” and “The World is Mine.” One thing I’d add is a clear visual cue that everyone is being hypnotized. Glowy eyes aren’t original, but it’s unmistakable that something’s wrong, so why fight it?

I like what Justice League Action is doing with their character designs, so I’m favoring that with Black Canary here.

Chess - The Interview (Animatic)

If you’ve been following me for longer than three years, you know I like the musical Chess, particularly the 2009 concert version. One song I’ve been wanting to animatic for ages was this one, the Interview between Freddie and Anatoly in Act 2. It’s super rough for the most part but I’ve got the basic beats down. 

If you aren’t familiar with the show (totally understandable), Freddie and Anatoly are both chess champions from America and Russia, respectively. Freddie loses to Anatoly in Act 1, but in Act 2 comes back working for Global Television, a news station. Anatoly has an interview scheduled, but he only finds out at the last second that his old rival will be the one interviewing him. They initially try to keep it professional, but everything quickly breaks down as the animosity boils. 

Anatoly is played by Josh Groban, so I gave him curly hair. Freddie is played by Adam Pascal, and here I slicked back his hair because he’s a white-collar worker now. Tough break, Freddie.

Human!Toffee WIP 

I posted a test image of my human version of Toffee - since then I’ve been trying to get the animation finished. Initially I was matching the show’s facial timing exactly but after a point I decided “hey, there’s no reason I can’t try something different” so I did. I noted in the video where the change happens (in case you couldn’t guess). I’m very close to finishing this but I wanted to upload something. Maybe I’ll even do something with Lizard!Toffee or heaven forbid, something else!

they say quality over quantity but I’ve really gotta work on the quantity now.

Auli’i Cravalho at the Annie Awards

I’ve never gotten around to watching the Annie Awards before, but I finally did this weekend - online of course. Our favorite voice actress was there to present some of the awards, and I just thought her dress was neat. She is so sweet in real life, it’s adorable.

Bill Cipher Straight Ahead Animation

I animated this during the stream last night - I haven’t done any Gravity Falls art yet but I found myself animating Bill so...yay? No pre-planning for this one, just walk, gesture, roll off screen. Yep, classic Bill.

SVTFOE Sketchdump

Just a few odds and ends. Hey look, color! Before we knew what younger Moon looked like I drew up an idea - plus a possible different outfit her adult self could wear. I like the vaguely Tsarina style.

Second are sketches from my comics that I either had to redo or cut out altogether. I was wondering if I should work some confrontation between the two in there, but it turned out it would be better if the comics were just funny. 

Third is Toffee horribly contorting himself in a fit of laughter

Fourth is Toffee indulging in some Broadway while he gets dressed. I had drawn him without his suit so much at this point that it felt bizarre at first to draw it back on. Oh well.
