“I was viewing the world through such a distorted lens and so I think music became my safe space where I could say whatever I wanted and people would interpret it in ways that were personal to them. I could write a song about my questions surrounding religion and people would connect with it on a personal level. If I asked those questions aloud, it was heresy.”
