His Dramatic End was definitely tear-inducing and had me choked up (as did several parts in his route). I would seriously recommend it when it releases in English.
I’ll put some thoughts under a cut for spoiler purposes...but I don’t want to reveal too much about the route tbh so these are just very brief thoughts touching on the overall route because I love him so much I need to gush.
This route was so well-written.
What we have in Kyle is a character who can separate his own emotions from his duties and job. He’s also incredibly thoughtful and kind. Right off the bat he is a huge safe-haven for MC and he never looks to gain anything from it. He doesn’t help her because she’s pretty or because she could be useful to him. Frankly, as I’ve said before, a woman could be standing next to a plank of wood and he wouldn’t know the difference. He sees someone who is on the verge of a breakdown and lends a shoulder to lean on, as well as guidance.
The way their relationship develops is so beautiful I honestly can’t think of a more natural build on a relationship in any otome that I’ve played... I really liked Kyle’s character design and the glimpse of personality I had seen from him in other routes, but reading his own, I felt myself falling for him slowly just like Alice. I was right alongside her gasping and blushing and just in awe of what a good person Kyle is. He seriously draws you in and he isn’t meaning to. He’s simply being himself.
He is nothing but respectful of Alice, and he seriously brings out the best in her. The change in MC is something I don’t think I’ve seen often in games before. It was lovely as well as refreshing. Usually, it’s MC helping the LI out, but this was the other way around. We go from an MC who is extremely frightened, unsure, confused, and I’m going to be honest, a bit useless lol--to an MC that is actually taking charge, studying, bettering herself and putting her foot down on values. She has found a purpose thanks to Kyle and it’s so strong she willingly misses her chance to go home for it. Not for a man, not for love, but because she wants to SAVE PEOPLE and be there to support Kyle in that endeavor. Like, wow. An MC that actually chooses to go onto a battlefield when she was just scared shitless at the beginning of the route.
And it was fucking beautiful to read.
It felt like watching two people really connect on some super deep levels and values and build from their admiration for one another until they realize it has blossomed into love despite neither of them looking for it. And despite their affections, they never let it stand in the way of their duties, which is to help people and save lives, no matter who those lives belong to.
There were also so many funny moments sprinkled in through the heartache. This whole route was just an absolutely perfect balance of cute fluff, smiling laughs, and tear-jerking sadness. A few moments I had to honestly put my phone down and wipe my cheeks because it hurt. And it was so real.
This is going to be one of those routes that sticks with me. I honestly can’t wait to go back through and read the other ending.
I hope when he releases, everyone will give this man the love he deserves.
