The Murder of Kylee Leniz
Kylee Leniz was a 16-year-old schoolgirl from Nevada, she was described as a great friend who 'made anyone happy.' Kylee worked part-time at her local McDonalds.
On Sunday 1st November, at around 9.30pm, Justin Michael Mullis, 24, walked up to the drive-through window at Kylee's work and shot her, Kylee was rushed to hospital but died later that night. CCTV captured Mullis firing one shot from a handgun and then fleeing the scene on foot. Police released images of Mullis to the public in an attempt to identify him and the next day Mullis was driven to the police station by an acquaintance. He admitted to shooting Kylee and attempting to hide evidence by disposing of his clothes. The murder weapon was not recovered.
Kylee and Mullis were not thought to have ever met and the attack seemed to be completely random, Kylee was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Mullis had no history of violence. Mullis was charged Kylee's murder with the use of a deadly weapon
