But Joan was making fun of people that were alive, isn't that the same? She was talking shit about Rihanna all the time, for no particular reason. Also she wished a whole country dead and made multiple racist comment towards palestinian people.

The only thing is so many comedians make fun of stuff like that and I just don’t understand why she’s the only person that gets shit for it. Like I’m not defending her actions or anything but I’ve seen Stephen Colbert/Jon Stewart make comments like that but people seem to praise them. Of course, they say it in a joking/sarcastic way, but to me Joan means it the same way as them. 

Also, I feel like since she’s a woman her words get interpreted as ‘bitchy’, but if it was anyone else (especially a man) it would be seen as ‘clever,’ or even ‘controversial’ but never anything too negative.

As for her ‘making fun’ or others who are alive.. it’s just that. They’re ALIVE, they can defend themselves. Joan Rivers is dead. She cannot defend herself or make any comment. I saw someone else on tumblr who said this (they didn’t like Joan), but they basically said Joan cannot see/hear what we’re saying but her family and friends can. Although, you may not agree with her, she was an important person to many people close to her.

I hope you understand, I don’t mean to offend you or anyone else. It’s just an opinion I hold strongly (especially when it comes to feminism) xx
